Hey Dakka!

3 of the Atramentar are done, and I think they've turned out pretty nice! I've fixed my photo taking situation, and opted to use my desk rather than the light box, which just wasn't working and was too hard to white-balance.

Also, my Mk IV bodies and NL heads came in, so I should get working on a second claw soon - also some Night Raptors hopefully!

I used a spare Space Marine to test an idea I had for Alpha Legion, which was going to be Runefang Steel as the base for the whole model and use green and blue glazes to get the colours i wanted, but it really didn't work. I'm glad I tested it out, but I certainly won't be using it to make some of the Headhunter squads I want to do. Maybe it needs more glazes as things go on.

Also, I put together a Heavy Flamer Salamander out of extra cast bits and Sternguard pieces. I might try and put together a shattered Legions squad, with some Morlock Termies.

Anyways, thanks for taking a look, C&C please!
Cheers,
Jpog

Nightlords are looking cool. The stylised skull helms look wicked.

That 'alpha legion' attempt looks like it would make a good statue as part of a terrain piece. Even though it didn't give you the result you wanted it's always worth experimenting different styles and techniques to broaden your hoppy knowledge.

@evildrcheese - Thanks! I'm really enjoying the Night Lords, and painting the skulls really make the models stand out, so I'm glad it seems to be working for people as much as it is for me! I tried a few more glazes on the Alpha Legion model, and it turned out interesting, so I may try again with some other pieces, but you're right, it does have a sort of oxidized metal look! Might be cool to try on some terrain or objectives

Alright Dakka - The Atramentar are done! (sort of)

I think they turned out alright, although I haven't done the gore on the axe or powerfists, but I don't think I'll add any to the Lightning Claws; I always like how the Black Library novels describe the blood sizzling off any of the powered weapons. Also, I haven't done the lightning on the armour of three of them, because its a bit of the pain in the , and I really wanted to use my motivation to finish the core of the models, rather than the lightning.

Here they are!

I may upload a final shot when the lightning and gore are finished, but other than that, that is the end of the Atramentar!

Up coming projects are going to be a miss match of another NL Terror Squad, Alpha Legion Headhunters or Destroyer Squad, and I have 7 Khorne Bezerkers left to paint up out of 12 in World Eater colours, to go along with Kharn and Angron. I recently read After Desh'ea again, and I remembered why Angron is my favourite Primach, so I should really finish up the guys I got for him.

But more on all that later! Thanks for taking a look guys, and please C&C!
Cheers,
Jpog

Thanks guys! Although, I've got a million other projects that I was going to get to eventually too, so maybe I should do the lightning sooner rather than later...

Midterms are beginning this week, so I don't expect to get an update in, but then it's Canadian Thanksgiving, so I can do some work over the long weekend!

More Night Lords probably...

Hey Jpog, with your AL experiment try using the washes over a blue base and then a light green base to see which colour is dominant and perhaps you can adjust your washes to suit? when I did them I simply went a blue base coat and used the same blue mixed with camo green progressively to get highlights and it looked pretty good.

@nerdfest09 - I did a little more testing that I'm gonna upload a picture of, but doing washes over blue or green rather than the silver sounds like a good idea too! Then I'll have a few test models to compare. Do you have any pictures of the AL models you've done?

Love your primarchs btw; you really do those models justice! [/fanboying] *whispers "Curze" softly*
