Most expensive small miniature (I don't count large models since it's easy for them to start climbing in price) was a limited edition Santana for Malifaux. Cost me $110au for a 32mm infantry sized miniature (image not mine).

By sheer cost probably my looted landraider. The model itself is like $70, then it probably has like $15 worth of boyz on it, and then about $10 in other bits.

My most expensive single purchase was probably Imperial Knight: Renegade. Got it on eBay for about $165. The most I ever paid for a single model was $150 for my Tau Stormsurge. I sold a lot of my MtG cards to pay for it last November.

Chaos Reaver Titan with all the weapon options is the most.
I also bought a Milenium Falcon from Finescale Modelers with added interior and brass etched details that was about $500. Can't wait to build that one!

Most expensive miniture would be my Thunderhawk.
Most expensive game would easily be Arena Rex, due to the conversion rate of the £ against the $ a single dude is around £18-20!

I don't buy many models since I don't really have the cash for it (I'm only in high school) so I generally buy one or two small boxes every two months or so.
However, I did purchase Start Collecting Flesh Eater Courts a few months ago and that cost me $140 AUD. Possibly my biggest buy. I am planning to get an Imperial Knight in the near future and those are ~$180 AUD so that might end up being a cash sink.

Hmm, tricky question. I own a Malcador Defender and an Arvus Lighter, those two were fairly pricy back in the day. Plastic kit wise, the most expensive single model I own is probably my Baneblade, "The Killer of Giants".
in the non-GW front, I have a Dreamforge Leviathan Crusader, which I think was around the 100 euro mark as well.

Single mini would probably have to be either Malcador tank I've got right now.
Ordered Kindom death from their site in Japan, was not cheap but worth it IMHO.

A dozen or so Resin 10mm Buildings from DZC http://www.hawkwargames.com/collections/complete-building-kits-commercial-buildings
They tend to be 60-100$ each
The majority were bought virtual items won via gambling in counterstrike
They look like this (not my models):

Technically, I just bought into Star Wars Armada this last week with over 200 bucks worth of ships, but the flipside is that it was all from a 40% off sale, so it ended up at something like $130 all-in.
But then expensive for me is when I preordered Space Hulk 3e for $100 when it came out.

Probably Avalons Hills Longest Day, took me ages to save up for that in the mid 80s from paper rounds and gardening jobs. I may have bought some other big games later that were more, but if they were they didn't take me so long to save up for.
Funny thing is I can't remember what it actually cost back then, would be interesting to compare - I know I wince at board game prices nowadays. I was looking at something that was £60+ the other day and was thinking back to when the Avalon Hill 'Bookcase' format games were about £10. That's inflation for you though.

I think my two most expensive wargame purchases were pre-ordering two mega armies for Dropzone Commander (actually got a call from the bank on that one).
Oh, and these. They were bought six or seven years ago and I still walk funny. I can't imagine buying them today.
@Stevefamine - please post pics when you get them painted. I've been drooling over those buildings for years but can't justify the cost. Glad you manged to get your hands on so many!

My Eldar Wraithknight and Imperial Knight Warden are the most expensive individual models that I own, MSRP clearly well over $100 each.
As a single purchase, Kingdom Death : Monster is the most I've dropped on gaming in a single go. $300+ Herald of Death plus extra expansions added during Pledge Manager.
Game-wise, Warhammer 40k is, by far, the most expensive game I own, having spent the better part of a decade adding 100s of models and books to the pile...

In the $260 realm for buying into large game Kickstarters.
Single models? In the $30-40 range. I've never bought anything large, just some vehicles here and there. Single figures? Not more than $15 a pop.

the most expensive (for me) model that I ever bought was an Eldar Vampire Hunter. I think it was for my 13th birthday and it was a huge mistake.
Being that age, I didn't have the skills to built or paint or properly and ended up ruining the kit.
I believe this is still my biggest regret in the hobby!

Single miniature was the metal chaplain with jump pack around ten years ago for $25 Canadian. It was probably the last GW product I bought that wasn't 2nd hand. I bought it during a dip back into 40k when Black Reach came out. And it actually gave me sticker shock enough to make me stop buying new. It is one of the examples of GW's prices actually going down when they switched away from metal. The resin version is currently available for $21.75 CAD. Since then I've been doing all sorts of gaming stuff and have never paid more than $12 for a single miniature. And since I shifted my sci-fi to 6mm (like Epic stuff) and 15mm (Flames of War size), I haven't paid nearly anything like that for a single miniature. I also tend to spend a bit every month rather than making large purchases, so my $50-100 a month of hobby stuff tends to go toward things like some paints, a small order of 15mm stuff, some terrain supplies, tools, etc., rather than to large purchases like buying an entire army at once. I also make sure what I buy is less than what I painted the previous month, so my backlog is finally under control. If I were to make a large purchase again, it would be for a 3d printer.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |
