I was talking to a Redshirt last weekend about the lack of Allies in the new GH/WH Codex. He neither confirmed nor denied this, but seemed to give off an air that Allies are indeed gone.

He did however say he "knew the new assassins rules" and preceeded to tell me the rules for the new Vindicare. As always, redshirt blabber can always use a nice pinch of salt, but this is interesting nonetheless.

The Exitus Rifle bestows BS10 on the wielder. This means a 2+ to hit, with a 2+ reroll if missed, as per the rulebook. Essentially 2+ TL.
Can't remember the AP value, but I imagine it's 1.

Shield Breaker round now not only ingores Inv., but actually removed that model's ability to gain an Inv. (this supposedly represents the Vindi's super-sniper ability; he's actually shot the refractor field generator, or the warpstone, or the intangible link to the warp :S)
Turbo-Pen Inflicts D6 wounds, and is super-good against vehicles (don't remember this bit)

I don't remember much else, but essentially the Stealth Suit and Spy Mask are now uber-awesome, and he will will allegedly be a very expensive dude. I wish I could reme, ber everything he told me, it sounded epic.

Seeing as how I'm looking at the downloadable PDF right now, I can still you that the redshirt you spoke to is full of

Um, that's "prOceeded" and "suRprise".

The PDF files have removed the allies rules, but people who have the actual books are still being encouraged to use them. However, given how out of date the allies rules are with the current design philosophy in all the latest Codex books, no one should be surprised if the allies rules disappear from the revised books for WH or DH when those finally are released.

Unless his redshirt is talking about the mythical new codex that will be out sometime in our lifetime...maybe. If this is indeed the case then the resdshirt in question is most definitely full of it, but it all sounds good and considering that every new codex has had its "gods" I don't see why this magical new book wont be the same. Besides, I always thought that the assassins where rather under-powered for their points cost.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

What? Cocain? How's that going to help me understand GW rules.....oh, yeah....nevermind.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Total BS, and for 1 reason:

If that Redshirt actually knew anything, and leaked it, he'd be fired. GW's cone of silence is pretty all encompassing right now. And people are getting fired over leaking info.

So we have two choices: 1) Redshirt knows something way ahead of everyone else, and is stupid enough to tell everyone, and is about to get fired. 2) Redshirt, or someone, is making stuff up.

The downloads are just the old codices that have been out for a few years now. This "rumor" seems to involve the new versions of those codices.

I could believe something ridiculously powerful like that, but that redshirt would be jobless. I don't think passing a (probably) wrong/fake rumor is worth his/her/it's job.

Ever since the Red Shirts promised me that they knew the release schedule, and that Blood Angels were going to be next release after Black Templars in 2005/2006, I lost all faith in them. They even told me they say the release schedule that listed them 3 months after Black Templars.

I wonder if they make fake rumours to locate the leaks. For example, tell one store one thing, and something else to another. According to what leaks, you know where the leak is.

well I worked for them at shop level for seven years and I can tell you that they have a nasty habit of changing the schedule of their releases all the time so what they tell you can be true at the time they tell it to you but then change. But also it was a hell of a lot of fun messing with people.

Are the allies completely gone (fro the PDF)? Can you n o longer have Assassins in Space Marine armies or is it just the Space Marines and IG in Inquisition armies bit?

I heard Vinindicarey models just get the Tau Railhead rules.

HBMC, Redshirt rumors have always been fair game. Dakka is a worthwhile board for 40K-playing adults because it has insightful critical feedback on all postings. This includes far-fetched rumors.

Oh, and our snarkfest is snarkier.

It is not useful to other forum members to keep posting large irrelevant photographs that bulk out this and so many other threads without adding anything useful to them. Does anyone really find this hilarious, especially for the ten-thousandth time? If you don't find the rumors useful or plausible, a few simple words would serve better.

I disagree. The pictures convey the meaning alot faster and more poignantly then a couple of words about salt and all that.

Especially when we have lots of "credible" rumors threads already detailing stuff, we don't need extraneous threads wishlisting things, or starting with "A redshirt told me..." We all know those never end well. Pictures help us to get over the pain faster.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.
