Alright so I'm starting an Eldar army. Even though I've also started a Tyranid army. And a CSM army. And an Imperial army. And I've got plenty Tau to paint still.

But yeah, I figured the Eldar would be a good direction to shoot in next, and in order to keep me doing it (I'm a lazy painter) I figured I'd start a blog to be regularly updated. I may also post fluff in here every now and then, or I might start a new thread somewhere. Ierno.

I have some basic background for them, which decided the colour scheme of the whole army: Water style power weapons. This will mean a lot of blues and greens of various shades, with some obvious oranges and reds thrown in on certain models, as they'll be hunting the Nids on a magma planet.

So here's some (bad quality) pics of the two ive put together so far.

And the magma bases abit closer...

Andddd the frilly feth on their helmets

Yes they look like crap. Will post more when i've got more built/painted some.

And I need a new camera

Quick update:

I'm waiting to get my hands on a decent camera (should be friday) so I can take pics of what's happening so far.
Also been fairly busy at work, so not THAT much done.

I HAVE decided however, that the metals will be done with the NMM technique. And since I've never tried before, wish me luck

Alright so heres a short walkthrough on how I'm making the bases for this army. Theyre based on a lava planet, so its all grey and red, with probable glowy bits later.

So first off, remove the edges from the base with a file or clippers so it's completely flat (or there abouts). Cut three layers of cardboard from a cereal box or similar, and glue them onto the top of the base (I used PVA glue) and wait til it dries.

Next, cut around the original base, leaving around 1-3mm for filing it round and smooth.

Next, using a crafting knife of some sort cut jagged gaps for the lava areas. Then cover the areas with PVA and sand as appropriate (I used the new Citadel sand from GW).

Finally, paint the base as necessary. I used an undercoat of Chaos Black, followed by a coat of Adeptus Battlegrey on the sandy areas. I followed up the grey with a heavy coat of Badab Black, and drybrushed up with Adeptus Battlegrey, and then a 2:1 mix of Adeptus and Shadow Grey.
For the lava area I coated it with Mechrite Red and drybrushed up in various oranges and yellows (on the sand also to give a barely-cooled glowing look), and finished with a thin layer of Devlan Mud to reduce the brightness.
It looks a lot darker in the recess in the pic, that's just shadow.

Might use some time, since I have the necessary equipment! Very effective. Looking forward to seeing the Eldar come together.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

A pretty interesting base idea (which I may have to steal at some point ).

If I ever started Eldar, I think I'd do all Dire Avengers, no Guardians. Except, maybe, on Jetbikes - I love the Saim Hann Armies you see, zooming around.

Anyway, looking forward to the Fluff, as it's something that I've also started having a bash at. And those Banshees should be good, I always had a soft spot for them.

Minor update: Been busy yet again with work, but I expect some pictures up later today with hopefully at least undercoated Banshees.
I like their colour scheme, I may make them priority.

Alright so heres an update, and I have a week off work so be expecting some slowly painted Eldar to come. Like I said, I'm a perfectionist and love my details. This means I'm using the watered down Bleached Bone approach, and giving EVERY MODEL my full attention.

So heres my Banshee force sprayed black, mounted on the lava field plus stones off my drive (I needed something to glue the onto, and the stones give them a gymnastic look)

And heres the test colour scheme just quickly slapped on;

Just to clarify, they'll be the standard colour scheme for banshees, with turquoise guns and garments, but with blue power swords to tie in with the fluff I have yet to post.
Basically theyre water-style power weapons, so theyll be oceanic.

Enjoi.

Hokai so I need opinions.

Ive finally finished the Bleached Bone on one of the banshees (took a lot of testing).
Anything I can do or does it look fine?
