Hey everybody, I'm painting up some urban Imperial Guard for a commission. I figured I'd just post threads here when I finish squads, and let people follow the original thread if they wanted to see things as they come together, rather than just seeing the end product. Anyway, here's the Catachans:

And the thread is here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/307261.page
Keep your eyes on the thread to see more urban IG as they develop!

Very impressive stuff. Can't say that I've seen this idea before. Is any armor going into this list? I'd love to see it.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

There's no armor in the commission, but there is some sort of converted Sentinel into a gun turret type dealie. There's always the possibility of getting asked to do armor for the army at some point, but nothing at the moment. Thanks for the input!

No problem! Out of curiosity, how much is this job costing the customer?

My rates are generally $3 a figure for infantry sized dudes.

Thanks. I asked because I'm trying to figure out this entire commission game, looks pretty fun.

Do you have more of these guys to paint up for your client.

Quick 'Q', I'm doing some urban IG right now and was wondering your skin recipe? I did base Talarn flesh and a wash of sepia but I'm more sold on your flesh finish just wondering.

Very nice. I always found doing camo on guards men to be rather hard to pull off so 2 points for you sir.

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.

A few coats of Dwarf Flesh and the Ogryn Flesh wash usually do a pretty good job. I'll sometimes do more layers of Dwarf Flesh and wash and layer it on a few times for characters and the like:

Thanks for the comments everybody!

Ha, that was the exact scheme I was thinking about doing until I thought of doing all that camo for all that infantry and I chickened out. Looks like you pulled it off nicely!

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Looks nice but I have to say, and no offence, the bright spots on the camo seem, well, too bright, light and dark gray spots would, imo be more fitting.

No offense taken! The camo is grey, a darker bluer grey, and black and white spots. I like the white spots since they really stand out - ironic on camo, I know. If you look at a lot of urban camo, it's not uncommon to have white, or very close to white spots. The white is a little more muted in real life, the levels in Photoshop are a little off.

I think the guy wanted the launchers to be on infantry bases for the purposes of his infantry squads. That's how he shipped them anyway!
