So, sitting here at uni I had an idea to convert a High Elven prince to be riding a White Lion. Now I know that this has already been done before, but I reckon it would look pretty boss.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I should do it? I was thinking of buying the commander box set and the Lion chariot and using parts from both kits convert the prince to be riding a lion.

Pictures will follow when I have built this, I'm getting the High Elves Command box set this week sometime and I think I have a lion laying around somewhere I can use, so they won't be too long in coming along.

Got some images posting them up now if anyone is interested.

Very nice. Are you considering shaping the cloak with gs to fill the gap between rider and mount and make it look more natural, extending along the top of the lion or something?

I was thinking of sculpting a saddle onto the back of the rider so that it makes it look more natural.
I might also remodel the White Lion cloak from the chariot kit to fit onto the back of the rider.

It looks a lot better than that "High Elf Mage Riding Snow Leopard" conversion that won a Golden Demon last year. Good job.

The helmet is a nice addition. The more i look at this model, the more I like it. Really looks as though he's ready to get stuck in, as opposed to the high and mighty regular high elf look.

Ps: where in Aus are you?

It's a nice simple, elegant conversion (one that I've been meaning to do myself).

My one complaint/criticism of it is that the Dragon-Armor motif just really doesn't mesh very well with being a White Lion Rider. I suspect getting one of the more generic helmets and possibly filing down some of the "dragon-wing" elements of the armor would make the whole model look a bit more uniform.

Also, consider giving him the White Lion pelt from the chariot sprue, as it'd definitely fit the aesthetics of the model (though upon consideration, it'd be weird for a White Lion to allow an elf wearing one of his cousins as a cape to sit atop him).

Haha yeah I tried the cloak, but I need to file it down a little bit or something to make it fit the model.
And in regards to the head, I tried a few different ones, and none of them seemed to make the model stand out at all. But I do agree with the whole dragon motif not fitting the theme.

Aren't there some more basic cone heads that come with the chariot that would be more fitting?

It's well done...but it just doesn't fit the High Elves. Something like that would be more fitting for Dark Elves or Orcs and Goblins.

Plus, established fluff states that the largest White Lions aren't ridden, even by the Chracians. However...they do go into combat alongside the Chracians.

Think of it like a hunter and a trusted hound.

How does it not fit High Elves :s
Chrace is a land of lions, and why can't they be ridden but dragons can? I don't think that makes sense.

This guy is an exception to that rule lol.

I would be a small chance that you would, if it let you. The concept of it is awesome though.

I say to the OP: go ahead with it.

If they can be used to pull a chariot with a yoke attached to them, then they can be ridden.

I seem to remember a chaos champion riding a giant fleshhound a while back.
