Quick WIP (though mostly done) shot of a Magic Portal for the new 8th ed special terrain. Something I knew I had to do the first time I saw the Engine of the Gods. Would be cooler if the Necrons plastic came in blue though.

Ahh, so we can expect the Lizardmen to be reinforced by SG1 soon?

I really like what you´ve done, been thinking it was quite similar also.. Just needs a cool base and a DHD now.

I'm debating on giving it a larger base with a "control device" on it, or just using one of Privateer Press' large bases so it can double as an Objective for my Necronized Cryx.

i know people have had good success coloring the plastic rods of Necron weapons with sharpies. You might try it on some of the scraps from cutting out the portal.

It's the portal from the Necron Monolith and the bits used to make the Engine of the Gods from the Stegadon kit, by the looks of it.

To recolour it you could try using ink washes perhaps?

otherwise, that looks pretty sweet, though I would recommend filling the more rectangular gaps between portal and frame, maybe just extend the swirls into the frame with GS and paint it to look like it's gradually sucking the frame into the portal (maybe glue some little bits of stonework into the GS to emphasise the effect)
