I've been working on this for just under a year and so far so good, the idea is to do Models for all 21 Primarchs including the two missing ones. My great white hope being that at the end not only will I have a great collection, but also enough practice in, to attempt the Emperor.

Please remember these are all (work in prigress) 's and as always C&C is welcomed.

Also I should say that I'm basing these conversions on the HH series and that's why Angron isn't wearing his legion's colors, but at the same time, I think I'm going to rebuild this model.

sorry the pics aren't better.

Sanguinius - I still need to do some touch up's on his face, but most of this one is done.

Angron - Although I'm happy with this conversion, no one seems to recognize him as the Primarch of the World Eaters, so I think I'll rebuild this one and simply paint him with his White and Blue colors.

but in the meantime here's the one I have, I used his Red angle theme.

Roboute Guilliman - this one is also more or less done, i have to redo the script and repaint the face, but he's more or less there, and he was also the easiest so far.

Rogal Dorn - This model is my third attempt (at building Dorn) and only half way painted, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Mortarion - I love it when people ask if he's pre or post Hersey cause Mortarion has always been dirty. This one took a lot of time to put together right but I'm happy with it, and it's pretty much done.

Leman Russ - This one is the only one I consider completely done. The one big liberty I took with this model was adding the beard, no matter how much I've looked, there's no mention of Russ having one, but since they've been pushing the Space Vikings theme with the Space Wolves for so long, I didn't think anyone would mind, and so far I haven't had any serious complaints. This is also my favor one so far.

I actually like the Angron model the best, though I think of him as shorter and squatter.

The Rogal Dorn needs a lot of work. Why does he have an ammo feed sprouting from his torso? Sorry to sound harsh but I also suggest you redo Robute as it just looks like a badly-painted Calgar with bits jumbled on. You should also work on the capes, as they still look too "GS blobby" and not like capes.

i think your conversions look way too busy.

i think the main problem is that there are artworks from the primarchs and yours look very different.

better pics, might help but C&C accepted,

again Dorn is still being painted, and the ammo belt will eventually be links of amour with script, but yes, that is what it looks like now.

as For Russ's axe, you're right there, but I knew I'd be giving swords and Spears to the other Primarchs, so I went with an Axe for Russ.

they can only get better, or so I hope.

Y'know I see stuff like this on every primarch thread. Frankly I figure there's no point in being a primarch is you can't have a whole closet full of master-crafted weapons to choose from. We should feel free to give them anything that fits.

On the whole it's a fun ambitious project. These aren't the best primarchs I've seen but hey, my Emp and Horus scored like 2s and 3s so who am I to talk.

But your emp and horus are good conversions, it's the paintjob that is errrm... laking?

Some of the primarchs here look nothing like their artwork, I still like mortarion except for that oversize combi weapon barrel.

I think they look pretty good, but Sanguinius has to be blonde, no exceptions.

Sanguinius needs blond hair. Also I'd make his wings a bit larger and also make them feathered/natural looking as opposed to mechanical.

I thought he was blond too, and the first version I did had blond hair but in the HH novel Horus Rising, it states that he in fact had black or at least dark hair.

As for the wings I've seen other conversions of him that used really large wings, which technically you would need to get something the size of a Primarch off the ground, but I just didn't like the look of them, so I used the wings from one of the new BA characters.

here's an older pic that I took when I finished Russ, to show the size comparison of my Primarchs next to smaller models, at least I got the size right, or so I think.

Actually, he doesn't!

I *love* it when people model and paint up Primarchs!

I enjoy seeing people's interpretations of what THEY want to see.

Of course, I'm eagerly awaiting your Alpharius
Spoiler:
/Omegon
and Corax!

Will you be equipping Corax with
Spoiler:
his whip and heavy bolter,
as seen in RAVEN'S FLIGHT?

I'm planning on doing both Alpharius and Omegon at the same time and as for corax, I didn't know he had a whip although I did know about the heavy Bolter. I was going to model him with a pair of Powerclaws, but the whip and bolter would be more interesting.

and on that note, any info anyone wants to add about what they think the Primarchs should look like, I'll take into account when I get to those undone Primarchs.

Lorgar is next on my list.

cheers.

Loving them. I love seeing projects like this. For the record, I also love your NG Angry Marines. My only gripe, as a huge Space Wolf fanatic, is that Russ should have the Spear of Russ if it's meant to be pre-heresy. After he drove off Magnus, he laid it on the planet Garm at the tomb of Garm, but it's all he used before that.

Like KK said though, they're your models. It's damn ambitious and good for you! Gives me courage to maybe someday start working on my little modeling dream.

edit: I especially like your Mortarian, with his plague/smog censors. I've been mentally picking out all the bits that went into that one. New fireprism bit.... I hope you have a nightspinner built.

thanks,

it may not seem so, but I put a lot of thought into these guys, what they should look like, what weapons they should have, their amour, their gear and so on.

When it came to the spear of Russ, I had just finished reading the space wolf omnibus and in one of the three books one of the members of the 13 company mentions how Russ never really cared for the spear and how he was losing it all the time and that the only reason he kept it was because the Emperor had given it to him. Plus they say that he once tried to spear the moon and it took his captains three days to find the spear after he launched it off the highest peak of the fang.

Then there's his frost blade which would have been interesting to build but when you take into account that this project includes (or will ) all of the 21 Primarchs I wanted Russ to have a weapon that stood out from the rest and if anyone could pull off a giant Axe, I thought it was him.

And again i understand that not everyone will see these conversions in the same light that I do, but trust me when I say I'm not just throwing them together, some I won't even attempt until I have the right bitz, and others will be rebuilt several times before I'm happy. But regardless, when ever I take these guys to my local game stores, everyone knows who they are without asking, and I have that at least.

no matter how hard I try I can't stop loving the Primarchs.

Fair enough, TB. You've clearly thought it out and I certainly can't fault your logic.

Like I said, they're your models and you've clearly put a lot of effort into them. Personally, I can't wait to see your Alpharius/Omegon conversion. And Ferrus Manus... Don't think I've ever seen a good Ferrus model...

Why do the Iron Hands get no love? They're the only one of the founding legions that don't have an individual codex or a special character.

One tiny criticism: in the future, try to use a sculpting tool (clay shapers are best) and smooth the thumbprints our of your capes. They're barely noticeably, but are there if you look.

What head did you use for sang? I'm looking into making one for myself using just the sang guard and sanguinior but all the head look too big and fat. Yours is nice and thin, which I like. Also for bulking him up at the hips I'm guessing it has just a bit of green stuff and that loin cloth to make him look wider?

You have good concepts mate, as for your choice of armament you shouldnt worry too much, as each Primarch has an arsenal no doubt, as with the items carried in novels/artwork they could simply be the favoured items used at the time. If I could critique one thing is that over ornamentation makes a model look busy and not attractive - simplicity in a model makes it even more eye catching if painted well - As for the capes I would suggest looking at some cape making tutorials or using already caped models or even not using them altogether - Most capes make the primarchs look like Power armoured supermen. Just my POV anyway

Methinks a lesson in proportions may be needed. I'm never a fan of the Peter-Crouch-on-a-torture-rack "Truescale" SM's and these confirm it for me.

Take a look at Angron's legs for example. I really cannot see where the torso ends and the legs begin. One or the other is too big.

Your sculpting needs to improve too. It appears your ideas outstrip your abilities. I can see fingerprints all over the cloaks and "blobby" bits (for example on Sanguinius) where you've done some kind of animal pelt but not done it all the way.

lol,

you're right my capes do need work, But I don't know if I'm willing to tear the models apart to add new ones.

as for Sanguinius's head, it came from the High Elf Mage set.

as for Angron, the proportions are wrong, that's another reason I plan to redo him.

thanks for the C&C like I said I do appreciate the opinion of my fellow hobbyist so keep it coming, and I will take everything into consideration when I go back to work on them.

Oh and as for the Iron hands, I would love to do their Primarch sooner than later, but unlike some of the other Primarchs there's a lot of description for Ferrus Manus and so Far I just don't have the bitz.
