Been long time since painted lumineth. Painting wave 1 was such a soulbreaking hell always found easier stuff to paint...but back to the grind. I figure the 7 models at desk takes 2 weeks...

And forgot to take painted models with me so had headache trying to figure colour scheme. Luckily facebook group was able to search by my name and found couple old photos.

There are definite limits - Slapchop does not do metal well, so you are back to traditional methods for that. Also, I find myself questing for a decent Slapchop method of doing very pale creams and browns...

However, even if you have to do all those 'manually', you get to those stages a lot quicker when starting with Slapchop (I do this with my Ravenwing, starting with Slapchop to do all the metal and hull plating, then moving to traditional methods for everything else).

My favourite bit though is when you forget some detail, some strap or pouch - before, it would be a stress with the normal base, shade, highlight. With Slapchop, you can quickly get it done in one pass.

Th downside of Slapchop though? The bottleneck to getting an army done becomes not the painting but the building. Which, after a few decades doing this hobby, just feels weird...

I also tried slapchop once with Stormcast. However they did not work so well.
I think some minis will be better withslapchop than others. Dryads certainly work well while Steelhelms might be difficult i assume.

The way he does the cloth, wood, straps and other bits and pieces can be sort of Slapchop adjacent, but if you can do the Slapchop drybrush prep without touching he weapons and armour plates, he drybrushing he does on them looks good and could be done very, very quickly.

A little more complicated than pure Slapchop, but still much, much quicker than pure traditional methods.

I mean the very classical method of black - base color - highlight 1 - ... - highlight 1532 is rarely used anyway I guess.

Oh, he is doing way too many highlights, and you can avoid all of those by using Slapchop on those sections. Combine that with drybrushing (which, if anything, is even faster than Slapchop - I'll talk to you about my 40k Chaos Knights at some point ), and you might have a very fast but good-looking approach to these guys.

Just an idea at the moment, may try it next year.

Have finished off a couple more Goblin Sky Pirates. A shortage of the very (very!) specific goblin heads I have been using for the project will slow things down a little bit, but hopefully might actually have a completed unit soon! And then a game-ready army, target 2027.

Finished the Middul Finga battalion of the Kruleboyz ths weekend. Now got plenty of shooty boyz to spring ambushes!





Got some of the other Fingas nearly finished too - getting dangerously close to completing a whole Klaw!

Tabletop ready Revenant for games of solo-coop AOS, and my first Sylvaneth model...



...it was a fun project and now looking forward to unleashing her on the tabletop, next to fellow Order heroes. Tried to make a lightbox but it was a poor effort. Might consider that as the next project and also get two lights for the task. Also going to use a proper camera.

Looks nice. Good gradation on the wings and glaive.

I had a little break from painting after the big Orktober push, but this weekend I sat down for some Gutrippaz and managed to finish off the complete Kruleboyz Klaw!



All five Fingas and, by and large, I didn't skimp by just doing the minimum number required. Over 100 swampy Orruks in this raiding force...





Guess I ought to take another look at doing more Bonesplitterz at some point...

All Slapchopped - the Branchwych took all of 15 minutes form start to finish!

I bought the AoS 2e starters (Tempest of Souls and Storm Strike) back around 2020, but never actually got around painting the minis, until now. Still a work in progress, but this is where I'm at so far. Stormcasts are mostly done, I just have the Evocators and a couple of Sequitors hidden off in another box I still need to dig out. For the Nighthaunt, I have most of the Glaivewraiths and Chainrasps done (I'm waiting to have all of them done before I do the basing).

Going to pick up my Seraphon again!

and hope I can make some fun (and hopefully usefull) combos!
