Thought I would test the waters here for possible interest. I found small casino precision dice (14mm) in a local supply company that I could drive/pickup from. They are precision casino dice and usually sold to large casinos/gaming companies, etc.
However, the minimum order for such dice is 100 pairs. That's 200 dice. They aren't cheap either, at roughly 3.67 a dice. So a 10 dice would run 36.70 which...as stated before isn't cheap. Would there be any interest in a group order from any Dakka members?

37 bucks is just too much for me. I think I'll keep my cheap dice.
I don't need true 1/6 probabilities that much. And I thought using a group buy was supposed to make the price go down. Not stay the same.

Especially at that price, it seems like Koplow dice would be a better investment.

Just some thoughts here....
I found small casino dice, and started using them about 2-3 years ago.
I guess they rolled fairly.....
I don't have numbers, and this is fairly anecdotal, but I really feel I rolled more 1's then ever.
I don't think they are worth the investment. You have to make a dice tray to roll them in, because a regular table will scuff them up, which will influence the rolls. If you have to roll 30 attacks, that gets annoying.
Stick with the regular dice. I think story about 1's being rolled 33.% of the time is bogus.

For the amount of difference it makes I don't see any point. I can see why a casino would, money. Even if I was to put money on a wargame my opponent would have exactly the same disadvantage anyway, so it makes no difference.

I just ordered 36 Gamescience precision dice from Gamestation.net. I hear they're pretty good. I haven't been able to watch the videos on them that I linked below, but my friend has and he said the videos convinced him to buy some Gamescience precision dice. Worth a look I suppose.

See-through with white pips, I assume? They don't have a website where I can see the colors do they? What is saffron? (yeah, asking a lot of questions, mostly because at $3.25 per die, I'd like to make sure I actually want them first)

No worries, questions prevent hard feelings .
Here is the site/place I would pick them up at;
http://midwestgamesupply.com/
They're about 40ish minutes away from me. I'm assuming (Not sure yet) but I think between my group and others in my area...I could get 40-50 'pairs' on the order. I would also be willing to purchase some more myself to flip on Ebay if need be....so figure 40ish pairs will be needed to get the min order. As I live close by, I'm also going to give them another call tomorrow and see if I can get the min. order down a bit....but I'm not counting on it.

So, what's the point of this again? Casino dice are just as likely to roll a 1 as a set of Chessex or Koplow or Monopoly dice. Of course, they'll be a more expensive set to throw across a room when they fail...

I'm intruiged... just bought some custom dice (Dakka Dakka!) so I might not be able to go for it now, but I'd love to see some pics of these bad boys if/when you get them...
Also curious if the need for a dice tray to roll in turns out to be true, in your opinion, or if it's not really needed.
Edit: Also, what's the difference between "razor" and "feather" edges? (from this part of their website: http://midwestgamesupply.com/dice.htm )

Hey RiTides,
I don't believe you would need a tray, as my friend currently uses large casino dice and has no issues getting a roll. The reason craps tables are laid out in the manner they are, with players required to hit the back wall, is that large casino dice can be 'flopped' if you simply turned your hand over to get a roll. Pretty obvious when done too.
It's a misnomer that dice must be square to be fair, as backgammon dice have feathered/rounded edges and are considered casino precision (and used in casinos). So, the smaller casino dice are idea because;
1. Accurate
2. Easier to throw than large dice
3. Feathered edges so it prevents table damage
