Unfortuantely, Popsicle had to end the UK Deathwatch idea, so I have decided to take up the mantle.
I'm looking for to make a unit of 10 Marines, all volunteer painted, which each minature being fully credited to the original painter.
I will try to enter them into next years Golden Daemon event, obviously it's too late to put them in to this years event.
This is the link to Popsicle's old thread so that you can get all of the details : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/308509.page#1823177" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/308509.page#1823177
I'm not looking for the 'Fluff right' DeathWatch colour scheme, rather that reach Marine has one Deathwatch/Ina shoulder pad, and the rest of his armour is painted with his chapters original coulours, so that we can keep this a social challenge, and not just a samey marine entry.
Hope that we can get it going!

That looks great! You know, I may make it a bit of an international thing. If a few people want in from outside the UK.
Or I could always have some honory members!

What exactly are the rules on the rules on this then? Because for a Deathwatch squad to be drawn from different chapters and fighting together, I thought they painted their armour black and only retained their Chapter badge on their right pauldron. Or are they repatriated marines ( ie back in their Chapter livery but shown with the honorary Deathwatch pauldron?
Sorry for the long question I hope it makes sense.

I know the technical description for the Deathwatch is black with chapter pad, but It'd be a lot better in my opinion if each Marine was individual, shown to be from an individual person with one Inq/Deathwatch pad on.
That way it would be a lot more social.

No trouble my friend, I've updated the first post to make it clearer.
How this is going to work:
1) Members of the Dakka Community either PM me or post in this thread with support.
2) Images are sent to me of the models they intend to send/the WIPs as they are being painted and sent.
3) I will then update this thread as each member of the squad comes in. By GD next year, the 10 man squad will (hopefully) be assembled and placed upon a senic base, facing a horde of foes. (Open to suggestions, not too sure what to go for, but leaning toward Nids so I can get some funky Lictor positioning.
Ok, I'll post my Marine up later this week.
REMEMBER, I'm not looking for award wining painting quality here, I'm looking for something that you personally are proud of, and that will showcase the spirit of 40K. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, we've got out first volunteer!
porkuslime has agreed to send me a Marine of the omega Marine chapter, and also at a later date one of the Get of Freki (SW offshoot)
Also, WhaleMusic360 has agreed to send an honorary Killteam member accross the Pond! Chapter as yet unconfirmed.
Big thanks!

I wish to volunteer. I'm part of Porukslime's volunteer Deathwatch (painting a Salamander for him) and I was going to take part in popsicle's so I would be more than happy to join in.
I was going to paint a Salamander Sergeant for popsicle and I have painted a power-fist for the sergeant already, so I'll be happy to paint the marine as a Salamander . My brother, Lord of Change would be willing to paint a Relictor or Star Dragon for you.

That sounds great! Can we get some pics up of them? WIP or otherwise? Also, if the interest stays at this level, I may be forced to start a second diorama squad for entry!

@ Lennysmash - Make it a special Weapon, otherwise we'll end up with a bunch of Bolter armed fools!
@ Sageheart - Not at all! I don't class myslef anywhere near GD class painting, I simply wanted to showcase this project to the UK public.
@ Khargrim - I vote the Celebrants, if you feel up for it!

Ok this was a marine I was already working on for my own army as such he was already pretty much complete when this thread began. As per requests he has been issued a special weapon, the trusty Plasma gun. The model uses pieces from the BT upgrade kit, the BA Death company kit and some tactical bits too. So let me know what you think and if this is ok for you guys. Oh and don't worry mold lines will be eliminated and barrels drilled.

And that Marine looks great Lenny! Loving it already!

I think we should include a separate person to do the basing for the models? Three reasons really
1) One person doing all the basing would mean that the unit would tie in more closely with each other.
2) If the models are forming part of a scenic base then the miniature bases will need to line up with what ever is on the scenic base.
3) Personally I suck at basing.

@Lennysmash - If you want to leave the basing to me then it might make more sense. At least that way we could get it to tie in as you said.
@Lord of Change - That would be great! I'd be very apprecieative.
@ Imp Monkey - The Marines are in normal Chapter Colours, with one DW/ Inq Shoulderpad.
Photos of my original (my re-do him in the future) DW member coming later today, I promise! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, I know he may look attrocious, and the colour scheme is a little garish, but what the hell.
Here's a Marine of the Knight's Pentient Chapter, 3rd Company. He is also my entry to this grand endeavour.
I'm thinking of doing maybe a light drybrush of boltgun over the actual boltgun. Thoughts?

I was wondering what other weapon would you like me to give the Sgt, I have two lovely pre-heresy plasma pistols (looted from my bro's Khorne Berzerkers), 4 chaos plasma pistols, 1 normal plasma pistol and far too many bolt pistols to count. The Consecrator that my bro will be sending you will be a basic '£5 box' marine with it's arms hacksawed off and replaced with a better bolter (DA), DA shoulder pad and it will have a better (DA) backpack which has a candle in it (since I have lots of DA stuff lying around from my fallen conversions). Also, I'll atempt to loot two of those DC 'I' shoulder pads from my BA playing friends, maybe even an angelus boltgun if I can.

@Imp Monkey - Awesome stuff! likelyhood is that the DW squad will be facing down a horde of nids, with a stuitable number of dead/dying grizzly things around
@ Gathering Storm - Fancy giving him some Dual Wields? You can chose what combination of weapons to give him, I want this to look rather "forlorn hope" as it were.
Cool news on your bro's model. I'm all up for that.
