Just wanted to post up an army I finished. It's something I have wanted to do for a while. The reasoning behind the army - I like silly hip hop and the sense of humor behind it. Too Short, The Pack, Lil Jon and of course Tribe and EMPD. I thought the mixture of modeling and paint would bring forth a fun and original army that would be a nice spin from the super serious and dark traditional armies.

Well a lot of people would likely see that as racist. I was a bit worried about that with how I did this army but it isn't making fun, it's a celebration of that sort of music and culture. I doubt any of the artists this is a tribute to would be offended, and (and I say this with the upmost humility) I think they would really like it.

I personally find it hilarious that the fried chicken would be racist, but nothing in the rest of the army crosses that line. Because in all honesty nothing here screams PC, but that is far from a bad thing. It's parody, and parody is enjoyable.

Seriously though, it's hilarious and well painted (as usual from you). Good job. 'Corbulo' is by far my favorite out of what you've done.

It's like a mix of Soul Plane and 40k, and is totally awesome.

That is one of the most spectacular armies I've ever seen. True dedication in terms of time and money invested in such a goofy theme, pulled off with perfect execution.

Its layers of washes and airbrushing, starting with tarnished brass and then ending with gold. All reaper colors.

1. place land raider
2. Place marine next to it
3. Ghost ride for a 2+ invul save

Your painting skill is very good.

I hate the colors you picked and of course there is nothing fluffy about your paint job at all. One or two pieces to have fun with would have been cool. Running with it on the whole army just makes me think that you just through money away.

You may have mentioned, but is all the green stuff on their bases money?

And while the general theme is great (and the painting is obviously excellent), the grafiti looks too splodgy and lacking in detail - I'd have expected much more complex designs as well as a far smaller "spray size" (though I would imagine it is hard to actually spray things that small using a human sized airbrush ).

Did you contemplate creating some decals via PC and sticking them on instead?

Those are some of the coolest, best painted, most comically playful minis I have ever seen. Great job.

Personally I hate all that sort of music and gangster talk, give me a guitar and some overdrive any day, but its well painted and executed And I cant say anything bad about it.

I would have to agree - the army is very well painted (as you would expect really ) and gives a momentary "heh". Though personally I don't think gangsta's (or their "music") have a place anywhere

It's cool, I don't make an army to please everyone, I make it to please myself and the person who commissions/buys it. I also understand not everyone likes hip hop.
