Hey Dakka I wanted to post up the links to a few short tutorials a friend and I put together on how to model/paint Thunderwolf Cavalry. I used Chaos Knights and Warhounds for mine and my friend used a mixture of Bretonian/Empire horses and Warhounds/Wolves from Goblin Riders. They turned out pretty good. The first two links are to the modelling tutorials while the third is to how I painted my TWC. I hope you enjoy.

Wow, all those conversions are really nice! I may need to start a small Space Wolf army now that I have found a viable/easy option for TWC!!! Love your pre-heresy paint scheme by the way.

Of course it's alright! Your Thunderwolf looks excellent! The greenstuff fur looks particularly good, I am glad to see someone else out there has tried this technique and met with success.

I really liked this idea, ever since I saw a picture online of someone doing Fallen/Ravenwing Cavalry with the Knight Horses. Then I saw this thread a few weeks back and it clenched my decision on how to do my TWC.
I decided to use the horses as they came, as I rather like them. Have only done a Lord so far in the few days since my order of Knights came in, but I'm very happy with how he turned out and will be finishing the other riders asap.

thanks a lot.
i already made another 2 of them(riders still missing thou)
tried the high elf lions feet, but they are too small.
also tried to gs the feet, but i have to try again
ill basecoat the first one and see how the gs looks.if it doesnt look good with color on it i may make a gs negative of the warhounds fur and use the negative as a stamp.
well see ^^
and i obviously mentioned you and your tutorial in my blog and that the credits for this go to you

Those look great too, thanks for the cred. I tried mutliple types of greenstuff paws and plastic paw replacements and couldn't get anything to look right, I am not very good at sculpting so hopefully yours look better. I have resigned myself to just keeping the hooves on mine and ignoring any negative comments about them! I also thought the SM torsos looked too small so I used the Chaos Knight torsos and arms too but after seeing the pictures of your TWC I think I may have simply been too critical because the torso on your TWC looks fine... Oh well maybe for the next set!

i used some greenstuff between the torso and the legs because otherwise(just like you said) it doesnt look good.
i also tried a terminator torso which didnt look bad but then i thought about all those people complaining about the terminator armor and how its not possible to equip twc with tda.
oh well ^^

hi these are great convertions but not everyone is as confident or as talented as you .
for that reason i am selling some ready made resin thunderwolves that come with space wolf PA legs they also look great but are more for people who want a quick solution for around the same price .
any one that is interested can PM me to discuss i sell single thunder wolves right up to complete armies of thunderwolves can cater for any quantities.
hope to hear from you all soon

Does anyone else have ideas beside doing the chaos warhounds? not trying to high jack the thread but the Warhounds just seem to me, what everyone else uses. I was thinking of using the high elf lions, but i don't know. If anyone else has done this and its worked out nice just PM more or whatever works for you.
The conversions look ace and i really like em.
