Subject: SoB papercraft superheavy turbine flame tank
Last night I was spured into action due to AlexHolker's papercraft thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/317373 In this thread you can find my reasoning behind dabbling in Sob papercraft, beyond the facts that I enjoy papercraft, 40k, and prototyping my ideas.
having done some SoB papercraft before, I wanted to try an idea that I have been lusting after since 2003ish before I last quit 40k.
So on to the inspiration, decades ago I went to the MoSI in Chicago and watched the IMAX film "Fires of Kuwait". In this film they went into several ways private industry thought outside the box to put the oil well fires out that the Iraqi troops lit ablaze when they left kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. One of these inventions was a old T-38 tank with a pair of old Mig jet engines replacing the turret. To see the inspiration in action check out this linky:

sadly the papercraft Maharis and Thunderhawk pdf's I printed out were full bleed, so some page edge paper-ninjitsu is in order. I am getting started on this now, and will post pics from my phone as I go.

Looks like a good start, Ed. I might have to make a start on my own superheavy design, instead of waiting and using a plastic kit.
EDIT: You wouldn't happen to be using Patoroch's templates, would you?

How about sonic cannons? Turn them down if you need to take them alive, turn them up if they merely have to be identifiable?

You mean "Sonic" as in... S-laanesh-onic?!? Yeah, Noise Cannons FTW!!!
More seriously, that's a nice idea, especially since sonic weapons ARE being developed for crowd control engagements...
Still, I'm a bit concerned about their look... Won't it look like Slaaneshi devices, especially with female crews?

Yeah I should of been more clear about the weapon... think of it as a superheavy dual mode immolator. You turn on the flamer juice and put the engines to mil thrust, you have the apoc scale super flame template... OR you dont move at all(dropping the recoil plow) and turn the engines up to full afterburner for a longer range (titan worthy) multimelta effect... after all apoc rules are of a build it, then agree on rules for it, which I intend on fully doing.

Yup you got it nailed there!

If I went "s-laanesh-0-ph-onic" I would have to swap the flamer juice for warming massage gel... oh lawd, this would be the best looted slaanesh superheavy landraider egress point slip&slide assault troop delivery system EVAR! (I am still sticking with the SoB theme, however...)

Still considering my strategy for attaching the thunderhawk engines, tonight I built up the rear and overtrack guides, then founf a newer way to make the track pop up slightly without additional peices. Speaking of additional peices, I need to go reprint a page to get the panels missing on the back top corners.
Pics from tonights progress...

I would share the link to where I got these .pdf's however...
1) cross forum posting is rude to the dakka people and in general I try to avoid it as a forum user.
2) the link is; in star wars terms, a "hive of scum and villainy" and I dont think I want to unleash the unprepared public to roam there.
if you really really want the link you can PM me... however, consider yourself warned.

Instead of jumping on the turret, I decided to mock the jet engines up from he thunderhawk pdf so I had something to plan around. Here is the results(I may redo it, but not horrible for a first attempt.

Progress over the last few days has been slow... I built up the basis for the turret, and added a superstructure/plumbing to the engine bundle to emulate the water sprayer of the irl inspiration. Next up is a decision how to mount the weapon, and what to do to intergrate the standard weapon.
