I've been vewwy vewwy kwiet recently, but it ain't been wabbit I've been hunting (damn you Starcraft!).

One thing I have been footling with in the background has been a Destroyer mod. Having picked up a cheap, busted old Russ off e-bay I decided to alter it almost entirely

I originally wanted to fit it with lights and suchlike, but unfortunately the running light kit I got was just too big to fit :( Oh well, Might still be able to fit something in there before I seal the thing.

First stage was to take the thing apart as much as possible, and thankfully the thing was supplied with the track units separate from the hull and everything poorly fixed with too much superglue.



Once that was done I started chopping holes for electronics, that now wont be installed, but that doesn't matter as there will be side skirts! I've also raised the Russ side armour a bit to expose the wheels and make it look like it has at least some kind of suspension.





I liked the idea of the lurking destroyer waiting in ambush for unwary enemy tanks, but I always felt that the Russ was a little too tall for the job even with no turret. Hence I've gone for reversing the tracks to give the front a lower profile. I was kinda thinking of the S-Tank, but couldn't quite pull off a real copy of the thing using a basic russ. Side skirts are extended up a bit to protect the engine bay. I might anfle the corner a bit, but maybe not.







Plasticarding for the side skirts is now complete and I've taken off the turret ring and replaced with a flat panel of plasticard. I am pondering how best to fit a cupola and stubber on there, but this should be resolved soon.



The lower hull has yet to be fitted and I will need to fill some gaps with more plasticard. I just need to ensure I don't spill my liquid poly all over the desk again while working on the plasticard



Anyway... All comments, criticism welcome. Nothing is glued yet so any ideas more than welcome

Definitely angle the back side skirts, it looks like a piece of plasticard attached to a model now, it should look like a tank armored side.

Thest of it is really cool, and the plasticard squares look great... did you cut it yourself?

Looking a bit like a TIE fighter. This is a project I was going to do and lost interest, don't know the rules to field a Destroyer so it would just be a modelling project

I've trimmed the rear of the side skirts a touch to make them a bit less square. Pics to follow later.

The squares are a standard product from Evergreen. You get various types of textured plasticard, and after the Forgeworld side skirts and Blackhands excellent tutorial I thought I would try my own hand at it.

The destroyer cannon is an S10, AP2 ordnance weapon (non blast) and as this is the only weapon on the thing I will likely never field it. However I felt like making it and the materials were cheap enough

As mentioned above I've trimmed the rear of the applique plates to reduce the squareness. I've also decided to not use the enclosed hull mount, but rather put some worky bits there and a GS shroud. Cooling fins added to the barrel to help with the heat load and to break up the flatness a bit. Decided on the Marine cupola as it looks a bit more high tech, in keeping with a rare and ancient design and matches my Executioner turret. Also added a heavy stubber mini-turret that will be magnetized and removable.



At the rear I've recovered the Russ exhausts and will re-fit them horizontally on the rear hull.



The skull over the drivers hatch is, I'm assuming, a defiler head and was there when I got the delivery. However I quite like the look hence I may leave it in place.



Still left to do is to get the track guards into place and get the lower hull sorted out. Iconography will also be required at some point.
