Hey all

Im starting a new IG army based on the Danish desert uniform. The camo is alot like the german Wustentarn and consist of a lot of small dots.
Is there anybody out there who have a tip on how to paint this easy and quick?
I once heard about a technique, where you use a toothbrush to "sprinkle" the paint on the models. Have anyone tried this, or know where i can find pictures of someone who have?

Im setting on a pure tabletop army, and is gonna dip the models in FAP. Im a gamer first and a painter second, but i do like good looking models

Oh and does anyone know where i can find a conversion guide for the chimera with its turret moved to the back?
I have seen lots of pictures, but cant seem to find a guide for it.

The conversion is perfect for representing the IFV CV-90, that the Danish army uses.

Thanks

Arnie

You might try basecoating with Deneb Stone, then conservatively stiple-brushing with Mecharite Red and maybe Knarloc Green, followed by a wash of Gryphonne Sepia. The stipling will produce the spotted or flecked look you're after pretty nicely, especially if you stiple Deneb over the red and green patches to break them up a little.

I've done my marine scout's camo cloaks in a similar desert scheme with darker brown streaks and patches instead of stipling, with great effect. The sepia really finishes the look, giving the Deneb Stone the right tone for desert camo.

Thanks. I think i'll give it a test paint.

And for the colours i was thinking more of desert yellow with snakebite leather and knarlock green.

Im gonna use the army painter desert yellow spray as a basecoat.

from what i can tell in the pictures, the scheme looks quite nice. I would actually go so far as to say that the vehicle looks abit like the Spitfire Mk. Vb TROP from the Africa campaign.

As for the infantryman, i agree that better pics would help out alot, because with the current picture, it looks as though he only has one color done.

Thanks for the comments.
I have tried to take some new pictures of the guardsman, but they're still not perfect, because of the shine in the FAP, and a crappy camera, but they are better

OH MY GOD THAT IS AMAZING. The ONLY thing that I think you need to do is hit it with a matte finish, that's IT. Incredible dude, it's like tropentarn IG.

Man that is a fantastic camo scheme! Quite possibly the most realistic look ive ever seen on a guardsmen. Excellent work!

I think it looks nice from close but I think it won't look so good from a distance. I mean it looks kinda messy from afar. But still I think that is one best digital camos I've seen on miniatures. Reminds me alot finnish m05 desert camo.
http://www2.ttcn.ne.jp/camouflage/image/finnish_hellepuku_k2004_ripstop_camo.jpg

May I ask how you paint it? Did you just patiently brush on every detail or do you have some kind of special technique?

And I think you could improve it buy painting helmets and vests with single colour instead painting the same camo all over the miniature. Would make the details stand out more! But nice job still.

I used Gavin Thorne's advice, and stipled the patches on.

Im going for a Danish Army theme, so im painting the models to resemble the equipment we've got, and that means camo clothes, vest and helmet.
But thanks anyway

Damn, that's some beautiful artwork, very well done!
I'm doing a desert theme for my SM army, but it's just a tan color scheme.

Just today I saw some "Flames of War" tanks that were painted by flicking the paint off a toothrush and they looked fantastic.

Might try googling that, failing that I'll try and get some pics next time I go to the store.

Primer is army painters Desert Yellow spray, and then followed by a good drybrush of GW desert yellow. Then stippling with Khemri brown and knarlock green. The rest should be obvious, and all got a painted coat of FAP
