So a question has entered into my head and it's something I have never seen discussed. Most of us know the famous begining of Star Wars "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away". Well what I'm wondering is if the events that where depicted in the Star Wars series and expanded universe happened "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away" then what is happening "At the current time in the same galaxy located far far away"?
I know their hasen't been anything official released on this I think it is more just a speculate or fan made future type discussion that I thought would be interesting to post. This is of course applying that the unspecified amount of time that is referanced in "A long time ago" has passed and that the Star Wars universe is being viewed in the same time scope in that we are not looking at it as a past event from our universe. So any ideas?

Well, most galaxies are hundreds, thousands, millions, of lightyears away from our own, so we can only see what has happened to them in the past because light does not travel instantly. So I guess if it happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, it would be safe to say that the civillization shown in the movies would look nothing like it did then, if it even still exists. That is assuming that Star Wars is real, and George Lucas somehow contacted beings in a distant galaxy and recieved video footage from them that he then made into movies. So it probably is a meaningless discussion. Sorry. *Edit: Not sure if that answers your question or not, but hope it does.

Nothing is happening now, the Tyrinid's went and ate everything except the droids. And now their falling apart now because there's no one to fix them.

@ Rubiksnood: Yeah not really I created this thread simply to point out that the Star wars into points to the events of the Star Wars universe being viewed as past events which logically means that in the fictional universe it can theoretically be viewed at a present time period.
This dosen't really have to have meaning it's simply just something I think would be interesting to discuss

So squats are from the mind of George Lucas then? That would explain why they were beyond lame then
