Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I need Katana swords and I can't find them. Anyone know where I can. I would go for all kinds of Asian/ Chinese (not necessarly Chinese but you know Chinese have distinctive weapons) weapons if they were available.

I just want the bits if possible. For the SpaSE MarineZ.

Just thinking about it now I just wanted some for flavour but there is going to be a distinctive unit of Honor Guard so basically it is something I am taking seriously. Like the cooler the weapons the cooler the army.

swords are so easy to make with plasticard, it's silly. It's also way cheaper than whatever you're going to pay otherwise.

Yeah so are Ork and Chaos conversions. I would rather not make the swords. Honestly I would love to have some "cool" Chinese-styled weapons but Katana swords were what I had in mind originally.

I use Lizardman Spearheads as daggers for my Storm Guardians I would be up for suggestions like that.

But thanks otherwise .

Have some examples or tutorials?

I would be happy to plasticard some blades that broke off my Banshees if i only knew how =.=

I don't have pics but I can tell my approach to it.

I use 1mm thick plasticard, and cut a blade like this. The tang is 1mm thick (also the plastic is 1mm thick, all perfect there).

Then, with soft sandpaper or a file, you "sharpen" the blade. Once that's done, you need to do the guard, also with plasticard, go wild, just remember to drill a hole in the middle with a 1mm drillbit.

Finally, get the miniature's hand and drill it too, place the guard on it, and "pin" the blade in place using the tang. Glue it, add a pommel on the other side of the hand, and there you go. It's way simpler to do than say.

Right. I do it much like Dark.

Step 1: draw a sword-shaped pattern on a piece of 1mm plasticard.

Step 2: cut it out with a hobby knife

Step 3: "sharpen" it with the side of a hobby knife a little bit (just like cleaning off mould lines).

It really is that easy. Here are a couple of examples:

Here are some weapons I found after a quick search that may suit if you decide against building on your own:

TAG bits are sized for actual 28mm models, not the oversized units of Warhammer. Those will be much too small.

Privateer Press has a good bitz section on their site. Here are a bunch of the katana type swords I know of off hand. Probably more if you look around.

@ OP

The swords that you posted are tiger hook swords, and would not be a good fit for space marines, as they are always used in pairs and require extreme flexibility and dexterity to use. The hooks at the end of the weapon is not designed to inflict damage on the opponent but to increase its range by intertwining with the hook on the second sword.

In the tau fire warior kit, there is a bonding knife. Unfortuneately is it sheathed, but it is a short version of a katana. You could use this as your hilt or just keep the sheathed version. Hope this helps.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

My brother actually probably has those bits. The bonding knives.

Thanks @ Aduro I did not even think of using Nyss weapons.

I did something similar with the falx on my bestigor champion.

It's so easy, I couldn't imagine ever paying for sword bits again. At GW scale the only thing that would require any effort to make at all would be the distinctive wrappings on Japanese sword grips.

Don't the older Skaven models have katana style swords?
