I've no doubt I'll be accused of having OCD or worse, but is anyone else here daft enough to put in details that will never be seen?

I've almost finished three Landspeeders and, despite having decided to glue the doors closed, I've painted the interior of the passenger compartments...

I used to be like that, where I'd be painting every component separately then glueing them together. Then when it came to making WHFB then I realised I needed to glue them together before to make them rank up properly, and when making metal models GS would be needed to fill gaps which obviously can't be done after painting the thing. Also, I realised its wasted effort. If you made it so that your doors open, then that would be awesome

Nice. Yes, I used to make that mistake all the time when I piced models together...I would spend hours on the detail that ultimately is concealed by an arm or bolter. Wish I had that time back....its not worth it. That pretty much when I swore off painting piece by piece. I dont think id go to the extent that you did though.

When I first got into 40k, I dont a Predator. Not really knowing what I was doing, or what the majority of the kit actually was i painted the "crew compartment" of the predator.

Yeah, I'm guilty of that too. Can't seem to stop myself though so everything takes much longer than it should

Thats how some people are. Personally Im a fan of "if you cant see it, no one will so it doesnt need paint" But to each his own

I'm decorating the inside of my SW Rhino/Razorbacks. Working on Greenstuff fur rugs and the like. I guess it's not quite the same since I leave the rear hatch openable, but they're not really the kind of thing that will be visible most of the time.

I'm also painting as much details as possible...

well, should mention that this model has been converted to a predator, so the doors are closed now and the interiour was a waste of time... but I think this is a good way for training...

Gluing them shut after they're painted? Surely the next logical step up from that is painting all the components separately so when they're glued together the inside of everything is painted.

With nearly every model I do! I swore loudly after carefully painting the dashboard dials of my first Trukk before slotting the driver in so that he covered all of them up...

But don't you find there's an odd satisfaction just knowing they're there?

I've done it by accident (detail obscured by the later addition of a driver and the like) but usually if you can't see it then I don't bother with it.

However I did paint the interior of a Land Raider when I was younger which was mostly pointless since I kept a lot of it black so you could only see it if you shone a light in there.

Yes, yes I do. No one else can see them, but I know that they are there.
