This is my Space Marine captain that I have been painting over the last couple of days on and off. I personally am very proud of him, and I hope to finish him soon.
I have yet to do proper highlights, but will do so when i get the chance.
I also plan to shade the cloak and fix the unwanted paint splodges that I notcied are present (they are oddly much less noticeable on the actual model)
You may be thinking "What's holding his left arm on? Is that Blu-tack?"
Well you'd be right. The storm shield I am going to give him hasnt arrived yet, and I don't want to glue his arm on only to discover that the postion I glued it on in is unsuitable to mount a storm shield.
I think this is probably my best work so far.
Please let me know what you think and give my any helpful advice (I'm sure there will be lots).

only C i have is that insted of doing 2 thick coats of blood red, do a few thinned down ones, to get a smooth layer

if you want a simple way of thinning, just get a white tile, blob a bit of paint on the tile, then mix with water until its not too thin.

Paint thinning's been addressed already....so all I've really got left to say is nicely done! That's a pretty snazzy color scheme you've got goin there.

Well most of my criticism has already been said...it just getting redundant now. But its always better to paint several thin coats rather than 1-2 thick coats. You know your paint is too thick when you can see the brush strokes. Its a pain in the butt ot paint a bunch of coats, but worth it. Everything else you have already mentioned (cleaning up paint blotches and highlighting). I woul also recommend working on your metal technique. You can do some really cool things buy drybrushing on boltgun metal or silver over the top of the coat you have on now...experiment with your metallic paints, using them together and you will see a great improvement on the level of detail you can end up with. Great model though

Yeah I only noticed they were Inquisitorial shoulders after I glued them on... even though my fluff states that they are Black Templar successors, so the Inquisition aren't exactly going to throw their arms open in happiness.

But they just looked so distinctive and brilliantly shaped I couldn't NOT use them...

The lenses should of been a different color, mainly because they kind of blend in with the rest of the red. Thin paints as mentioned, otherwise its looking good

Why is it that half of the Dakkites on this website have 2x better painting than I do?

If only half of them are better, that means you are at very least on par with te average painter.
