Yep this is the right area, it is to do with painting your fair eldar.I know very little of eldar, having never touched one in my life, let alone made an army. I personally think it looks good, but I am not sure of the contrast between the outer carapace and the cloth (is it cloth?)

maybe for the abs, paint the actual abs black and just slightly color the crevices orange. It looks very much like Magma armor right now and I'd think that would help alot.

I've purchase Eldar before, tried to paint them, got frustrated, then sold them.
I like the colors, much luck to you painting the skinny ones!

looks like a pretty complex color scheme to work with...but I think it looks cool. It would look great on a bunch of guardians in a squad. Paint one up and post a pic!

@MechaEmperor7000: What are abs? Not familiar with the term, I assume it's something on the backpack?
Oh and could you show me the magma armour?

@Element206: Heheh thanks man, I don't currently have the paints, im using in this - scab red, terracotta,
bronzed flesh and something else i think... Automatically Appended Next Post: Oooopsy! Didn't see your post vik. I like your term "wasp"
it kinda suits the eldar. So you want me to try priming it black and layering the surfaces yellow? I planned to prime it chaos black anyway but explain the yellow please

well as mentioned in other threads, yellow is a tough one. when on black primed models it doen´t get an easy paintjob. multple layers of thined yellow and you will get a nice color effect. i have done so with white on black primed models and it was a pain in the b..t.
the colors black and yellow together are really agressive. as i´ve read they are as far apart on the color wheel (or something similar) as can be.
nature has used this sheme to warn. tht´s why wasps are colored that way. also weuse it on constructionsites a lot.
i think this sheme is realy unique and will give you lots of attention on the table. also it will probably give you lots of work...^^
love to see it in the flesh/plastic when done...

Well... I'm not really a fan of earthy tones on Eldar (nor metallics, at that), but IMHO the painter is ill-adequate for what you want. If you can spare one or two miniatures to use as test, it'd be perfect.
In this way, you can pick undercoat that suits you best, the colours (will bronzed flesh work better, or iyanden darksun, etc). A computer screen is never a good guide for colours, because it's gamut(?), brightness, luminosity etc vary a lot from the real thing.

Abs are the Abdominal Muscles, i.e: the set of 6 plates around the "stomach" of the model.

Iyanden is a tricky one. First Craftworld I painted for my older brother. Now, what you're aiming at is a very solid yellow, and I don't recommend trying to go from a black or brown undercoat.
Start from white, but plan the details ahead: what colour are you using for the weapon, the cables? Are you going to paint the arms glued to the body, or separate (which I recommend in most cases), also should the helmet be painted apart? (I'd also recommend this).
You're looking at a minimum of two coats of yellow; I don't know how experienced you are with a brush, and I haven't painted yellow in quite some time, but pick one and make it solid. I don't know how the yellows work together, but you've got either Sunburst or Golden yellow to work with.
Which can work in a lot of different ways, and is really up to your style - you can put on several thin coats of either yellow.
If you start with the darker one, you can use the lighter one to highlight - note that this is time-consuming, because from what I recall yellow is a bit transparent so you'll have to draw several lines for the highlight to work. Another way (I personally dislike it because I don't like custom colours) is to gradually mix the base yellow with skull white. This will make it a bit thicker, and the highlights are easier to do.
Another way is a pure white highlight (or maybe even an off-white like bleached bone or dheneb stone - experiment, experiment!) over the selected yellow. Then, one or so washes of Iyanden Darksun to tie it together.
What I wouldn't advise, but only on the basis of personal preference, is using black or brown wash, or orange, to shade.
Black needs to be expertly applied to look good. If it messes up, you'll end up with a miserable looking Craftworlder.
Brown, on the other hand, might work if sufficiently diluted and applied before the yellow wash. This might actually work, but you have to be real careful on the brown, because too much water and you won't see it, too little and your Eldar will look like he's in league with Nurgle.
Finally, orange... Orange would seem a natural choice, but it's no better than green here - basically yellow with red or blue - because it would create a weird looking yellow, too cartoony.
Hope this was of any sense... I couldn't bring myself to delete all my theory crap after I written it, but it was only at the end when I remembered this:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260034
which is one of the best yellow painting guides I've seen. And proved me wrong on the brown
