I ordered my mythicast thunderwolves on the 12th of october. I just got them, well most of them in the mail today. I originally ordered two hero packs and the five set of wolves. The list these are going to be built to is in my subsribed threads. Anyway, here is the start of the thunderwolves. Their arrival in a small cardboard wrapped in newspaper then bubble wrap, and taped like someone's life depended on it. I am not overly impressed with the amount of cleanup that I am going to be left to do. THere are crystals of resin, pegs, and general flanges of resin all over these models. They are also very sticky. I am new to working with resin so please any comments are welcomed. Well you are here to see what I am doing not listen to me ramble. So the pictures below are of the box, (in case you are wondering about how mythicast ships). Also individuals of the models I am most concerned about working on.

Let's see... The minis look okay, though I'm a fan of Mr. Dandy's Wolves. Clean em up, and they should work a charm. Show us when you're done!

Haha, yea I've been looking just haven't found one I like yet. On topic though. I've been cleaning the models. Hot soapy water and a toothbrush and my finger nails. I didn't want to take a hobby knife to them just yet, but my finger nails really seem to be the best thing for popping off the little bubbles of resin off the models. Used a safety pin, worked for a while till it bent. I think I've spent about two hours or so and got some of my little wolves and one of the big ones about as cleaned as they will get till I pull out the hobby knife. I have to say I never thought GW models were fantastic, till I went to this manufacturers, then I realize how clean the GW models are lol. If anyone has any hints or tips on the grooming of my wolves, I would love to hear them!

I also ordered the five set of Mythicast Thunderwolves and 2x 10 packs of the Fenrisians, Mine weren't in nearly as bad as condition as yours, so I can't really give you much advice on how to clean them up :( They do look great primed and painted though, so be persistent haha Some advice I can offer however, is since they are resin my regular plastic glue didn't work and I needed to use a superglue. I found the citadel brush on one to be adequate. Also when I based my wolves I needed to use PVA rather than a plastic glue otherwise it just flaked off. Hope this helps a little bit, Good Luck!

I always use my favorite loctite gel super glue. It's just about the most amazing thing ever when it comes to putting any kind of models together. Here's one cleaned and assembled. Future reference for anyone that buys the mythicast thunder wolves, don't mix up their feet! I was lucky enough to notice that they were different when I was unpacking, but I could only imagine trying to get the right feet on the right wolf if I hadn't. Anyway, here's a few pics. I blue tacked a torso on just for the pic and blue tacked the wolf to the base. I am thinking that tomorrow I might base coat him to get a feel for it. But for anyone that has read my recent battle report, this is the new and improved Mr. Angry

You need to give these guys a bath dude. Give them a bath in warm water with a bit of soap and scrub them with a tooth brush. At least that's what Iv'e learned to do with resin. Looking forward to progess.

Rose, I did. I scrubbed for hours, literally. Just six little wolves and this one thunderwolf, I spent about 4 hours scrubbing with a toothbrush. They are still shiny as crap.... but the sticky feeling they had when I got them out of the box is gone. So I'll find out if that was enough washing when I get the base coat on. Hopefully tomorrow.

wow,those thunderwolves look horrible.

also the resin looks really weird.

thou im really curious to see them painted.

some advice:
when working with resin (especially cutting or when filing it) make the resin wet and/or wear a mask because resin dust is pretty bad for you ^_^

I was very unimpressed when I first got them out of the box. They were not very similiar to the quality that I had seen on their website. There are quite a few 'bubbles' in the resin, and some of them accidentally popped during their bath. As for the particulate matter, I've probably breathed in worse, but I will keep it in mind! I think that once I am done with the painting they will be decent quality models, but straight out of the box, a WHOLE lot more work than I was originally anticipating.

sure it was mythicast.com. Be aware that I did not get everything I ordered, 6 fenrisians and 2 Thunderwolves short (they call it a hero pack). Also shipping time sucks. They are very timely on email responses. It took about 17 days to get my wolves, there are a few other options. search Dakka for Mr. Dandy (?) he was mentioned earlier in the thread. Glad I could be such a great influence!

Mine were also pretty shiny, but after priming and painting I haven't had any issues with paint flaking or anything, and Ive played a fair few games with em. Good job cleaning them up. Thats wierd you're shipping was so slow, I got mine in a week and a half :S When you paint them up I'd do the wolves separately to the rider or it can be difficult to get at the saddle.

Maybe it's my internets but I dont see your pic Mitch. The torso will be seperate during painting, I only blue tacked him on for the purpose of the picture and my own temporary satisfaction lol. The howling model is my next one so I can use that fantastic scenic base He should have pics up after I get home tomorrow, Wednesday about this time maybe.... You are also located alot close to their home base. I believe it is in the phillipines, shorter trip to austrailia than west coast of the US....

Looks pretty good mitch, I am excited for mine to be done... Sometime! haha. I've been known for lagging a bit when it comes to painting, but my last army was Necrons... so not to much excitement there. I am looking forward to details! lol Mitch, did you use the scenic base that mythicast has for any of the models?

its actually pretty simple.

put the gs where you need it and use your sculpting tool (in my case a silicon tiped brush and a crafting knife) to follow the already sculpted fur into your gs

hope this helps a bit ^_^

Was going to head down to the game store today to pick up some paint.... Then I realized, what colors should me thunderwolves be? Also, what paints do you think they used for the canis model in the codex? I am thinking that I may do something similiar to that, but with more of a red tinge to the brown and the white fading into a blue. Yes this is beyond my painting ability. But I would like to try.

Small update for now, but I'm proud. I got the scenic base that came in the hero pack all painted up. Let me know what you think Just realized the large tree looks way more slowed in the picture from this angle... and the blue is much more pronounced I think because of the flash on my camera....

So I managed to finish off the first TWC I have planned. Here's a few pics. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I should have six fenrisians finished today and will pics up for criticisms as well. The TWC model had a base coat of grey, and I don't think it came out as well as it could have if it would have been a straight black base coat. I was feeling testy with a can of white and black spray paint and managed to pull off a very even grey, but the straight black would have been better. I still have to get a guy together to be the rider, but the thunderwolf and attached legs are finished. Oh forgot, I also have his lower jaw to still attach, it's on my to do list.

Few more pics for today. Painted and based three fenrisians. I am debating on the ice motif for the bases or white flock... but this is good for now at least. Also, got the jaw on the TWC, that was a serious pain! I was initially worried about all the bubbles and miniscule 'rivets' of resin all over the wolves, after a thorough cleaning and painting they are hardly noticeable. No more so than my painting skills are lacking. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Mr. sleepy brought a couple of these wolves over to my house to check out and I was very surprised at how badly the molds came out. He put a ton of effort into getting these guys table top ready and I hope he manages to get them looking good as I am sure they are not too cheap. Good luck buddy!

It looks like you've gotten the blue from the armour onto the wolf fur. If so, might want to clean that up. If not, your camera is doing weird things. o.O

Its actually a different colored blue cloth on the saddle. I've been rediculous busy so haven't had a chance to get any worthwile pics up, but I'll try for a close up on the saddle so you can see it better....
