Scrap Thrall

Hi guys, I'm in the process of playing around with some Cadian guard infantry that I managed to pick up to try and create a look that I like for a regiment.
The one thing I wanted to have on them that I'm struggling with is backpacks. I wanted the whole force to be carrying packs but I'm having trouble finding backpack bits that I like and are affordable enough to equip masses of guard infantry with. About the only one I really like the look of so far is the pack from the cadian heavy weapon set (the one pictured below) but they are not easy to get hold of in quantity.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Well I'd have no problem paying that for them if I'm honest. The main problem with those Cadian packs is availability. I have yet to find a bits store that has even enough of those to equip a squad with.

I bought 40 Rhino side doors from them for bunker and terrain pieces. I e-mailed them before hand to see if they had them and they did. It's worth an e-mail.

Ah right I honestly hadn't thought to do that. Amazing what you can do with a little common sense!
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, I'll email them and ask.

the war store gives you 6 for $8. Outfitting 30 dudes would put you back $40, which isn't TOO bad. If you're going with an infantry horde, then I guess I might reconsider.

Although a bit small I guess for being true scale and being non sci fi, you could buy a victrix box set. They come with a ton of backpacks
heres some WF greatcoats with the ones from their french old guard
But I too would recommend the Pig Iron ones

Might be a little more expensive, but I'd say go with Forgeworld backpacks from the Elysians or Tallarn catagories. They look far better than the stock GW backpacks imho. Though to equip ~30 guardsmen you're gonna be paying roughly 45-50$ depending on the exchange rates at the time.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, they are much appreciated.
The Pig iron packs look quite nice but I'm wondering has anybody used those on GW guard models? If so do they size up well and are there any issues with the metal packs overbalancing them?
Forgeworld is a bit out of my price range for backpacks unfortunately otherwise I'd be right there on the Tallarn Packs

Pig iron backpacks... painted:
and unpainted:
I haven't tried using the pouches yet as I am trying to stick to the standard GW lasgun mag pouches for consistency.

With the pig iron backpack sprue you really don't save any money. Buy the cadian ones if you prefer them, it's what I did.
