Erm, I'm kind of tempted to suggest the simple tactic of 'turn round, bend over, and try to look surprised'.
Wood Elves do need a new book now. Though my friend now has 40 Eternal Guard, and I'm interested to see how they do.

Wood elves just seem like that army that will supprise people when they see it. I have never seen one played so i have no idea what to do for magic items, i know i have 480 in core not counting command, so what should i give my leader? It is probably a 750 list, so any ideas on what works and what doesn't? Can you please post a total point list and suggest what i should buy next.

Making Him a Highborn and giving him either:
Eternal Kindred
Light Armour, Enchanted Shield and Giant's Blade for a combaty one.
or
Alter Kindred
Light Armour, Bow of Loren, Arcane Bodkins for a very effective shooty lord.

I would not underestimate your glade guard, move and shoot w/o penalty and S4 at short range is better than most players realize.
For your lord, I like mine on an eagle with giant blade, glamourweave and enchanted shield. Just add anywhere and your foe is hurting.
on foot, I like to give him the talisman that prevents foes from strength bonuses by weapons (Merciew's locus?), the first strike magic weapon (for re-rolls to hit), the poition of strength (for that nice surprise hit once per game) and the heavy armor w/5+ ward. On foot I would also make one of your glade guard units 20, and get the flaming attacks banner, boosting him incase of the obvious foes.

Reckon if you are smart then multiple small units will work okay at that points level, if you plan to expand though you're going to need some of the more aggressive wood elf units. They still sorta struggle in 8th though.

Having that much core is great, add in some command and you've got enough core to meet % requirements for a 2000 point army!
Glade guard are fantastic in the role that they play in the army.
Wardancers are a bit harder to use now, but eternal guard will be good once you get to higher point levels. A dragon is always scary vs. some armies, and a liability versus others (cannons) but very fun and worth trying if you end up getting a hold of the model. It will also be rather unique in the 8th edition landscape! And it addresses some needs in the wood elf army... again, as long as you're not facing cannons, or can make your 3+ ward save with the stone of crystal mere!

Ok, sounds good. Are the glade rider guys useful? i wanted an all elf army so i know i am already putting myself at a major disadvantage. SO what tactics should i use to beat OnG, my main opponent always playes them.
Inventory wise i have:
1 nobel
40 Glade Guard
8 Glade Riders
12 Dyrads
and some disposable income to pick up a couple more things

My eternal guard are my bunker for my level 4 spellweaver, I would strongly suggest a spell weaver.
Life is the stronger lore, but I like beasts. If you play beasts, your eternal guard bunker (w/standard bearer) can become very effective with the base spell.
looks like you prefer elves to forest spirits, if so be patient with your army. You can win that way, but the forest spirits are the designed "beaters" of the army.
Good luck!

Well you can get two great eagles for cheaper than 5 waywatchers and the eagles do the same thing as waywatchers. The wardancers can be a great counter/flank charging unit and the dances can be a great advantage. On the other hand wild riders could be used the same as wardancers, but with greater mobility. I like the waywatcher models better, but I would probably say that for the points wardancers would be the better choice.
Sorry to go off topic, but I was looking through the IoB rulebook and noticed that the wood elves are, I think, the only army without a pictured unit in the book. Where's the wood elf love GW?

The wood elves are in the hard copy of the rule book, and my new updated list is:
Total Price 850
Lords
Highborn 205
Hail of Doom Arrow
Stone of Rebirth
Core 645
Glade Guard*12
Lords Bowman
Glade Guard*12
Lords Bowman
Dyrads*12
Glade Riders*8
Horsemaster
From the one woodland ambush senario i did the army is working pretty well, i lost about 500 points of guys and i killed around 900. It sucks having to face a NG army when they have you outnumbered 3-1 if not more.
I did post my hopeful 2500 list in the Army List section, so if you could look at that for me i would be very thankful.
