With that post, you are expecting people to know what an SA80 looks like!

With the Magazine behind the grip, it will be hard, but post some pics!

I've used an SA80 before, and I say welll done on your choice

But in a more serious manner, the bullpup configuration would make the positioning quite difficult. The only thing I could suggest would be to use a few spare pairs of arms and keep cutting and repositioning the arms until you find a position that fits the rifle, and then do that for all the other Cadians.

The rarefied atmosphere

Oooh. Difficult proposition. It may come down to using a file on the inside of the arm to file a part of it down for the magazine or cutting up the arm at the elbow, gluing the gun in place and greenstuffing the arm back on so it has a little bit of give. I prefer the filing idea though. I would use a triangular one because they aren't so wide and easy to use in a tight spot.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Sorry, but no. I haven't had to change any of my Cadians' weapons.

I don't use L85s but I do use bullpups on my own troops. The thing about bullpups is that the magazine will generally be hidden by the rifleman's arm. Now in real life magazines are quite slender affairs that fit snugly in between arm and torso. In28mm scale, though, magazines tend to be unrealistically thick, and Cadian arms are of dubious proportions anyway.

Hence I used 3 approaches for my troops as indicated below:

first, have the weapon pointing directly outward from the body. This allows the magazine to be visible and can be fitted relatively easily into the existing Cadian arms. Some minor filing or trimming of the non-visible side of the magazine sometimes helps it to fit.

The second method is to not have the rifle at the shoulder at all.

The third is effectively cheating by trimming away the rifle where it would not be visible and assuming that it is hidden by the users clothes. Following this line it is useful to leave a small amount of the magazine when trimming to look like the mag continues under the clothes. At a distance I don;t think anyone really notices and you can mix in untrimmed weapons to allow the viewer to get an appreciation of the weapon in general.

I tried trimming the arm away once and then moved in favour of leaving the weapon unharmed primarily because the trimming and GSing is a much harder operation, and partly because I feel that the rifleman's sleeve would do a good job of obscuring the thing anyway

the helmets look great, may have inspiration for my custom storm troops......
as for the bullpup guns i love the look of the SA80 and i think it will tie in nicely with the theme of my army, but as you say it is a tad tricky to model them, be fun tryin to though!

An expensive, yet hassle-free, option is to use the guns that come with the Forge World Elysians, as they are actually bullpup-design lasguns!

Linky: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Elysian_Drop_Troops/ELYSIAN-WEAPON-PACK.html

Pretty striking resemblance to the SA80 too...wonder where they got their inspiration from

L. Wrex

EDIT: And upon actually reading this thread I realise that you want to know how to actually model them onto your Cadians. That could be a bit tricky. The only real way to do so would be to completely shave off the lasgun + stock and very carefully trim down the SA80 until it looks 'natural'. I don't know the exact scale of the SA80s to the Cadians so can't really offer anymore advice other than that.

i do like the look of the FW Elysian lasguns, you said correctly though its an expensive solution, though i love the look of the bullpup sniper they have in the weapon pack
the SA80's i got hold of i will have same trouble with the resin lasguns from FW i'll still have to find away to MOD the arms or the weapon stock to fit them to Cadians, thank you for the idea though L Wrex

i did originally look at assault group as my uncle makes a few of the mini's they have on there but tbh i wasnt happy with the looks of the SA80 they had, i stumbled accross hasslefree SA80 and was suprised at how good it looked, plus it quite low priced considering

Hmmmm, tasty! I like bullpup rifles and the Pig Iron heads also look good. I was thinking of getting the Kolony heads for my army personally as I am wanting that Russian Theme for me.
