Hi guys, I am here to show you my nid force, and I will be regularly updating it. I am going for a hive fleet leviathan style colour scheme, although variating the chitin/carapace edging/highlight colours, and the base skin washes, which are barely visible on the finished models.

carapace edging colour = X

base skin wash = y

Otherwise, all the models use the same colour scheme:

Undercoat/Prime in Dulux 'Dusted Damson' - good for mass painting due to mass containers and a good textured prime surface
Apply 'y'
Drybrush Dheneb Stone
Drybrush skull white
Apply fully opaque highlights of Skull White to remove dusty look from the drybrushing
Paint carapace chitin chaos black
Highlight in two 'X' colours
Claws in scab red, highlight blazing orange
Paint other details yellow, with a baal red wash
Gun = White with Gryphonne sepia wash

-Done!

Relativley quick, takes 3 hrs per 7 gaunts, 2.5 hrs. per 3 warriors



The genestealers and spore mines were done in a different way, paint dwarf flesh, highlight bleached bone for flesh, regal blue drybrushed with enchanted blue, with a purple wash on the flesh (except for the Ymgarls and the broodlord)!

Got a Mawloc coming the week!

The Mawloc came from wayland games today, I upgraded postage to a fisrt class packet for only like £2.18 in total and got it next day!!! Pics are coming...

The Mawlock is an amazing model, looking forward to seeing it!

Looking good. Suprisingly, there is a lot of detail on the rippers.

I like the purple/white scheme. Personally though I don't feel like those photo's are really doing any justice to your work. Might try putting a light 36 inches above the models and using auto focus. Also helps to set the camera on a flat surface while taking the pics.

the mawloc will be built for friday, and painted over the weekend, will try the photo technique, thanks for good comments!

If it's not switched on already, put your camera on macro function.

People hate on using a flash to no end, but I swear by it myself. Just gotta make sure you have a light shining from the opposite angle the flash will shine on.

They look good from what I can see. As many people have pointed out I don't think the pictures do you models justice! Keep up the great job.

Gotta love nids! How many points do you have up to table top standard? Do you have any plans for terrain after you have a bit of an army set up?

I will do some terrain, and we have a crab shell coming out soon. 4 the pics, I hate the whitewashed look of flash, and it was turned off, plus I did use macro mode
and I did focus it well, although I think it refocused as I took the shot. Will redo the
pics 4 tonight!

For the Mawloc I am gonna add some clay to the base to create cracked earth(like he just burst out of the ground), and two injured guardsmen(or more like dead), one on ground with spilled entrails, one falling back with a shard of stone in his chest! I am gonna be following this tutorial while I build my Mawloc:

So here's what I built of the Mawloc so far, - to be completed tonight!

The Mawloc is Done:

I must have around 750 pts. of painted units, dominated by the genestealers, and 1200 pts. in total. I am fighting an ongoing game at my Wargaming Club, and I am against Tau and Space marines, each force originally at 500 pts. with 200 pts of reinforcements available in turn 3. I have 1 warrior, 3 ripper swarms, 1 hormagaunt (who persists not to flee!), and 1 spore mine. I have lost a Mawloc, 14 genestealers, 3 spore mines, 2 warriors, 7 termagaunts, and 6 hormagaunts! My Mawloc dispatch of a squad of 5 terminators with extreme ease in 1 go! The strength 6 ap 2 deep strike attack took down 2, and the assault took down the other 3 (monstrous creature ignores the awesome armour saves that is key to a termy's effectivness)! The mwaloc was unfortunately dispatched of though my space marine opponents reinforcement devastators!

That's one sweetly evil looking mawloc. Open wide!
