Dozer blade= reroll failed dangerous terrain check, 5 pts

Siege shield= Automatically pass , 10 pts

Which one do you take?

If you have an extra 5 points it never hurts to upgrade to the Siege Shield. However, if you strapped for points, a dozer blade statistically will get you through any single battle.

I have yet to ever upgrade my two vindicator's dozer blades to siege shield.

As a player who has to play 10pts for dozer blades (IG), I have contemplated paying that price for most of my vehicles. Then again I play on very terrain heavy boards. You only have a 1/6 chance in the first place, being able to re-roll that is 1/36, which is all you need. Not paying for the siege shield can give a dozer blade to another vehicle...or some other 5pt upgrade.

I've always preferred a Siege shield. But the arguments presented for taking a dozer blade for half the points are really good. Pity nothing can be done for the landraider, getting a 250pt plus model stuck on terrain really sucks.

Siege shield gives you the emotional insurance of "ha ha! Now I "cant" roll a 1!"

But dozer blade is for all intents and purposes just as good. But beware the snake eyes!

Well even though it is not a necessity i would go for the siege shield. They just look awesome and vindicators look a bit naked without them. For only 5 pts extra looks come into it.

If you have no other dozerblades present in your army, then siege shield model becomes a dozer blade. muhahahahahaha. Ok, so thats what I did anyway.

Siege Shield.

with a fixed gun, Vindicators are one tank you don't want getting immobilized.

I wasn't even aware that vindicators came without them I think mine (chaos) just have them standard. I think I'd always pay those five points, just for cool factor

Edit: Huh..Chaos vindicators don't even come with the option for siege shields...So does that mean the siege shield in the kit is a dozer blade?

Only IG tanks actually come with proper Dozerblades.

the Vindicator is the only SM tank to have anything in that direction in the kit.

Siege shield on the model, 100%. Is 5pts worth a siege shield over a dozer blade? Only if you can't count it as one, for some reason. To model a vindi without the big sucker out front is aesthetic sacrilege.

Well, as an IG player, mine cost 10 points. So I generally don't take them.

Generally siege shields, if the points allow.
If I have three vindis... then I would rather spend the 15 extra points on something else.

But always at least one of the choices
