I'm curious about how people are modeling these as there are currently no GW models for these units. I really want to use one or both, at least in friendly games, but I'm struggling to come up with a way to either scratch build them or modify them from something else.

If anyone else is using these units in games yet, could you post a picture of what your model looks like? I really need some inspiration.

I'm waiting for these models too... I was sure there were forge world ones but what is listed there now isn't what i remember so that advice is a kind of non-starter; that said both the fighter and bomber models would be acceptable.

I'm fussy though so if there is no news on the models soon it'll be converting for me... taking the void dragon phoenix and nightwing and making use of my huge pile of spare DE bitz. The only other thing I could suggest is grabbing the Vyper and Wave Serpent kits and having a good session of making edges pointier and adding spikes.

I'm currently scratchbuilding a Voidraven. 2 large engine pods, connected to a smaller central cockpit. Between them, I'm going to make it look like stretched fabric wings for that DE style.

@LS: That looks awesome, but I wonder about the size. How large is the model itself relative to models like the Valkyrie? I would think that it shouldn't be any more massive, and it seems to me your model might be a bit larger. The Forgeworld DE flier isn't really that much bigger than a Falcon, but it costs like $65 USD.

Is that a kit of some sort, or a total creation of your own?

Well it is a little smaller than a valk. I can take a pic later if you want. I do have a pic of it next to a raider though.

The kit is actually a batman forever batwing model. I paid $20.00 for one model (got two of them though) and added bitz to from the raider sprue. Check out that link I posted for more pics.

Here is the comparison to a raider pic:

I have to agree... with a couple of DE bits stuck on randomly.

Edit: Though it does look pretty neat anyway.

Thanks! I used the K.I.S.S. technique on this one since the voidraven will be out in about 6-7 months.

That is so awesome that it was so simple to do. Do you know if these models are still easily available, or do I have to go e-bay scrounging?

Oh it would have to be ebay. That is where I got bought of mine. I think they are worth getting. All of the bitz used were extra except for the pilot. He was a Ravager gunner. I had to trim his shoulders some to get him to fit, but that was it. Basically I have $40.00 invested into two models. I do not count the bitz since they were pretty much extra bitz anyways. Since I used two gunners from a ravager, I just went ahead and made the ravager a raider.

When these come out, you are looking at least $50.00 a model. i might pick those up as well and if I do, then I will take my conversions and use them in big apoc games.

Oh and you will have to get a Valkyrie base. I got mine on ebay for $6.00 and GW sells them for $10.00. I am sure you could make a makeshift base out of plasticard and a bit of wood for the stem.

I converted a wave serpent with spare bits from the raider/ravager kits. Basically lots of spikes, and used brightlances on the inside edge of the wave serpent's 'wings' and a DE pilot. Simple but it works.

Been eye-ballin these as likely candidates to be heavily modified into the new DE flyers

That Mk VII viper looks like it would fit the bill perfectly, have to see which comes out first (Viper or Voidraven).

Jeez, the Viper Mk VII looks really good, too. Any idea when in 2011 it's coming out?

Another one I like is the new cylon raider model, but I'm not sure about the size of it.
