Can someone please identify for me what the guy on the right is(without any hands), and suggest a weapon/other hand style for the weird guy/psyk on the left(assuming that is what he is, I think?)?

Is he also a weird guy? Arm suggestions?

Tanks!

Correct it's a Wierdboy and a Minder, I think they are from 2nd Edition. As for arms it gets a bit tricky as the new Orks hace much bigger arms so it will probably look wrong. But you should be able to pick up some old arms on Ebay for very little money.

I have stacks of generic arms in bags, and I think a few older ones too.. so I guess I will try some of those to see how they look. Thank you everyone!!

I have old ork arms and some guns if you need. I had that same wierdboy when I tried playing orks ten or so years ago.

As it says on the tab, he is a minder. I must admit, at first glance I thought he might be a madboy.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

The wierdboy minders were there to ensure the wierdboy didn't run away from the battlefield, and to ensure his powers were used.

The staff was essentially a warp-'lightning rod', which harmlessly (mostly) grounded him. When it was time for him to channel the powers, the minders would take the staff off him (and some would even pick up and point the wierdboy at the enemy).

Wierdboyz were ONE variant of 'oddboyz'. There were three main types of 'oddboyz'.
Doks (painboyz)
Wierdboyz
Meks

Madboyz were ork berserkers, essentially.

Maybe I misremember, but I think both Madboyz & Runtherdz were classed as Oddboyz too back then.

What I wanted to ask, though: some of my old madboyz have chaos/Khorne insignia. Were there ever any rules regarding that & if so, where?

Could be hidden deeper in my copy of "'Ere we go" (old orks codex).

Could be. I've never actually played orks in ANY iteration of 40k.

I do remember there was a picture of some minders carrying the wierdboy like a warp-majik-spewing log/battering ram though.

The ancient ork arm sprues intended for these models were fairly weedy and crappy. You can usually use 'modern' ork arms as replacements, with a bit of trimming sometimes needed, but be particularly careful with the wierdboy and any others with one attached metal arm, as the last thing you want is an ork with mismatching arms - some disguise (e.g. armour on one or other shoulder) may be necessary.

If you still have it, would you mind checking? It's not important or anything, it'd just be cool to know. I only had the Waaagh! Orks book-thing & they weren't in that one.

At some point the rules actually stated explicitly that the minderz would grab the weirdboy and fire him like a gun. Also, I'm almost certain one of the weirdboy minis back then had one or both minders aiming the weirdboy.

As for arms, old Necromunda plastic arms work fairly well for the old ork minis. But I shouldn't think it would be hard to find original arms. You always got way more than you needed, and I'm pretty sure both IG & Squats used the same ones. Possibly 'Stealer Hybrids & a few other weird things used them too.

There you have all the Wierdboy miniatures, including the battering ram one. Definitely my favorite one.

I do have some sprues that are appropriate for this, they look less crafted and detailed than the metal figure and that was my original issue with using them or not, so wanted to get opinions. Im still not sure!! I dont want mismatched sizes, but I dont want his arms to look scraggy when I really like the details. Maybe shaving gently some new style arms is my best option..
