Farseer Xiel breathes heavily. The duel against the Ork Warboss took longer than expected. Five hours had pass since the fight began. Neither combatant was exhausted. Xiel sported a couple new cuts and bruises. His eldritch shield absorbed most of impacts from the Warboss’s blunt assaults. On the other hand, the Warboss’s body was littered with fresh lacerations, many of them not deep enough to penetrate the Ork’s thick green skin.

“Rwargg!” bellow the Warboss as he recklessly charge at the Farseer. By now Xiel was familiar with the Ork’s attack patterns. Xiel step to the side and slice the passing Warboss using his Witch Blade. Unhindered by a flesh wound, the Warboss swung his Power Klaw around, hoping to catch the nimble Eldar off guard. Xiel duck in the nick of time, but the Warboss anticipated this and follow up with a low jab using his left fist. The blow connects, sending the Farseer skidding into a pack of nearby Ork Nobz.

The Ork Nobz was supposed to be witnesses to the duel between the two commanders, but one Nob loses patience. Lifting his Big Choppa into the air, the Nob shouted with glee, ready to finish the Farseer. The Ork Warboss growl and assaults the Nob. Using his right Power Klaw and left hand, the Warboss snatches the Nob, lifts the squirming Ork into the air, and then smash the Nob over the Warboss’s knee. A bone cracking snap breaks Nob’s spine, killing him instantly. Tossing the limp Nob aside, the Warboss turn to the other Orks and yell, “None of you boyz be stealin my kill!”

Xiel seize the opportunity. Rolling behind the Warboss, Xiel stabs the Warboss in the back and unleash a burst of eldritch energy into the tip of his blade. Swirling heat and electricity erupts from the blade, roasting the Warboss’s innards.

As the dead Warboss slumps to the ground, Xiel stood to the attention of the other Orks. “As victor of the duel, I believe that makes me your new Warboss,” sneered Xiel. One Nob stood up, towering over the Farseer.

“Oi,” grunted the Nob, “I’m now the biggest and meanest Ork there is. That makes me the…”

Before the Ork could finish his sentence, Xiel thrusts his Witch Blade into the Nob’s larynx. The Nob gargles blood before dropping dead on top of the previous Warboss. “Does anyone else wishes to challenge my authority?” asked Xiel.

“Honoured great one, I’ve done as you’ve commanded me. The incompetent Warboss has been taken care of. I’ve ordered the green horde to lays wastes against the monkeighs in grey armour to the north,” said Farseer Xiel.

“Good,” replied Eldrad, “You’ve done well… but I sense hesitation and confusion clouding your thoughts. “What troubles you my young apprentice?”

“Honoured great one, began Farseer Xiel, “up till now, a troubling series of events have unfolded. Throughout this campaign, we’ve taken heavy casualties. Our initial assault on this planet failed after losing Autarch Tzar along with our ship, the Dark Star. Thousands of Eldar souls were lost along with it. Fortunately Farseer Ava established a foothold by activating a dormant webway gate. But we were too late in preventing the Tyranid invasion. We lost many more in our battle against the alien menace. And now," Farseer Xiel's tone turns icy cold, "we humiliate ourselves by forming a coalition with the filthy Orks. We’ve sacrificed so much, but to what end? Honoured great one, what treasures does this planet hold that evens out the scale to our lost?”

Eldrad frown. “I thought Farseer Ava had informed you, but it appears she did not,” Eldrad quietly said. “Well then my apprentice, ask yourself, where did those dormant webway gates originated?”

A few seconds pass between the two Farseers.

“I do not know,” admitted Farseer Xiel, “While I recognize most of the symbols intricately woven on those webway gates, many of them are ancient.”

“And who was it that reawaken them?” ask Eldrad.

“Farseer Ava… Oh!” Farseer Xiel’s eyes widened. Excited by the sudden revelation.

“Yes,” replied Eldrad. "Farseer Ava hails from Iybraesil Craftworld and her visions has lead us to this planet, which holds a clue to the long lost Crone Worlds. Many outcasts have ventured here seeking treasures, but had either perished or return critically injured. The Imperials have hindered our quest, but no more. Tomorrow at dawn, we will strike what is left of the other white armoured monkeighs to the south. Their loss against the Orks weakens them greatly. They will crumble against our assault.”

Sorry for the long delay. College consumes a lot of my time. I haven’t played 40k since last summer.

This is round 4 of ConQuest GT SF Ragnarok.

Because I have the same first name as another player, the tournament organizers accidentally placed me in the semi-finals against the leading player, who at the time held the highest battle points.

Setting:

Deployment was preset to Dawn of War. Mission was preset to Capture and Control. Extra victory points awarded to whoever control both both objectives and scores more kill points. The board was setup to a dessert village theme. Six buildings/ruins were spaced twelve inches from board edges and from each other. A seventh ruin was placed in the center.

Army List:

-3 Guardian Jetbikes, 1 Shuriken Cannon
-Fire Prism, Sprit Stones, Shuriken Cannon
-Fire Prism, Spirit Stones
-2 Warwalkers, dual-scatter lasers

Deployment:

Eldar won the roll off, but my opponent opted me to go first. I place my objective center of the table. He places his literally in the top left corner.

Neither of us deploys anything.

Turn 1 (Sisters of Battle):

With Dawn of War first turn night fighting in effect and none of my opponent’s models on the board, Sisters throttles full speed ahead. I concentrated my forces in the left table corner, which narrows the distance between the Sisters and both objectives.

On the left flank, two Dominions Immolators gun toward the Eldar objective. An Exorcist follows behind. In center a Dominion Immolator, Celestian Immolator, and Palatine Immolator drove forward with two Battle Sister Rhinos and second Exorcist following behind. Flanking right, two Celestian Immolators followed by Inquisitorial Storm Trooper Immolator drove towards center objective.

Turn 1 (Eldar):

Everything except Guardian Jetbikes, who were held in reserves, flew onto the table. Both Fire Dragon Wave Serpents (Eldrad attached to the one on the right) move flat out towards the Sister’s right flank. Seer Council turbo-boosts behind the Fire Dragon Serpents. Everything else moves flat out, but keeps far back.

Both Dragon Wave Serpents’ star engine hits the after burners, and moves an additional twelve inches closer to the right. In the assault phase, Seer Council moves an additional six inches forward.

Turn 2 (Sisters of Battle):

On the left, both Dominions continue gunning toward the Eldar objective. Front Dominion pops smoke while the second hides behind it. Left Exorcist backs up, hiding behind a building.

In center, everyone moves to intercept the Fire Dragon Wave Serpents. Two Celestian Immolators on the right pull up in front of the Wave Serpents. Celestians disembarks. A third Celestian Immolator from the center pulls up near the left Fire Dragon Wave Serpent and disembarks. Inquisitorial Storm Trooper Immolator shuffles a few inches, getting its fire point in range.

Celestians in the center starts the game off with a bang by blowing up the left Fire Dragon Serpent. Fire Dragons stumble out and are immediately doused by burning promethium from center Celestian Immolator. All six Fire Dragons live up to their name, getting burned to a crisp.

Unfortunately, the rest of shooting wasn’t as glamorous. Eldrad’s Fire Dragon Wave Serpent shrugs off two Exorcists rounds and five Meltagun shots.

Turn 2 (Eldar):

Guardian Jetbikes do not come in.

Eldrad fortunes his Wave Serpent and dooms center Celestians. He splits off from the Fire Dragons, disembarks, and moves toward the doomed Celestians. Meanwhile, the Fire Dragon Wave Serpent glides over the wall of Immolators, landing right behind positions the center Exorcist. Farseer fortunes her Jet-Seer squad and dooms a Celestian squad on the right. Seer-Council flies toward my right flank. Everyone else hangs back, ready to provide fire support.

On the left, Warwalkers peppers the lead Dominion tank with their Scatter Lasers. The spectacular laser light shot stuns the Immolator crew. The rest of my opponent’s shooting as dismal as mine. Bright Lances and Prism Cannons either missed or scattered harmlessly off Sister transports. Fire Dragon Wave Serpent fires its Scatter Lasers into the rear butt of the center Exorcist. The crew is stun as lasers melts the Exorcist’s treads, immobilizing it.

Seer Council unleashes their Destructors at the Inquisitorial Immolator. The templates also hit many Celestians on the right. Thanks to shield of faith, one destructor is nullified. Witchfire consumes both Celestian squads, burning two Celestians from one squad and one Celestian from the other squad. Seer council follows up by multi-charging Inquisitorial Storm Trooper’s Immolator, a Celestian Immolator, and the Celestian squad that has four members left. Their witch blade sliced easily through the Immolator’s hull, causing a massive explosion. Two Stormtroopers dies in the explosion. They fail their moral test and flee off the board. Meanwhile, Seer Council butchers three more Celestians while taking no wounds in return. Losing combat, the lone surviving Celestian surviving attempts to flee, but fails, and is quickly cut down by Eldar’s sweeping advance. Seer Council consolidates a few inches back.

In center, Eldrad assaults Celestians. Celestians burns a faith point and attempts to summon protection from Spirit of the Martyr, but the Holy Spirit is busy and puts them hold. Eldrad butchers two Celestians while taking no wounds in return. Celestians rolls double ones for their moral test. With insane courage, they refuse to retreat.

Turn 3 (Sisters of Battle):

Left Dominion Immolator drives past its stunned cousin tank. Empty Celestian Immolators surrounds the Seer Council. Remaining Celestian squad on the right pursues. Battle Sisters in the middle disembarks and moves within rapid-fire range of the Seer Council. Palentine Immolator, second Battle Sister Rhino, and center Dominion Immolator break off from the pack, and drives straight-center toward the Eldar gun lines. An empty Celestian Immolator chases after shaken Fire Dragon Wave Serpent.

Combined shooting from Celestian Immolators, Battle Sisters and Exorcist only succeeds in knocking a single wound off the Farseer and killing one Warlock.

Celestian Immolator squirts burning promethium into the rear of the Fire Dragon Wave Serpent and immobilizes it.

In assault, Celestians successfully invokes Spirit of the Martyr and makes their invulnerable saves against Eldrad. Eldrad comes out unscathed

Turn 3 (Eldar):

Guardian Jetbikes finally come in. They enter from the right-back board edge, hiding out of TLOS. Both Eldrad and Farseer successfully Fortunes themselves and dooming center Battle Sisters and Celestians. Seer Council, surprised by the Sister’s show of force, pulls back toward the center objective. One of the Dire Avenger Wave Serpents races toward the Eldar objective at cruising speed.

Prism Tanks focus fire at the Battle Sisters. Despite re-rolls to hit, the large blast scatters wildly off. Combined shooting from both Dire Avenger Wave Serpents succeeds is blowing up the advancing Palatine Immolator. Warwalkers peppers the advancing Battle Sister Rhino, shaking the crew.

Turn 4 (Sisters of Battle):

On the left, both Dominion Immolators park next to a building near the Eldar objective and Dire Avenger Wave Serpent. Both Dominion squads disembark. In center, Palatine and Retinue march toward the War Walkers. Shaken Battle Sister Rhino and center Dominion Immolator guns toward the Eldar objective and pops smoke. In center, Celestian Immolators, Battle Sisters, and Celestians pursue the Seer Council. Empty Battle Sister Rhino parks on top of the Sister objective.

During shooting on the left, Dominions blasts the left Dire Avenger Wave Serpent with their Meltaguns. Flame jets pierce its hull, detonating its anti-grav engine. Dire Avengers escapes the explosion, but are immediately engulfed by burning promethium from a nearby Dominion Immolator.

In center, combined shooting from Battle Sisters, Celestians, Immolators, and two Exorcists kills two Warlocks and knocks another wound off the Farseer. Palatine Retinue levels their guns at the War Walkers, turning one of them into burning wreckage. Celestian Immolator in the back stuns Fire Dragon Wave Serpent.

In assault, center Celestians charges the Seer Council. Two Celestians die, leaving the Celestian Sister Superior left standing. Inspired by the presence of nearby Book of St. Lucius held by Battle Sister’s Veteran Sister Superior, the Celestian Sister Superior stubbornly passes leadership.

Turn 4 (Eldar):

Second Avenger Wave Serpent moves flat out, landing in the top-left corner behind a building and in front of the Eldar objective. Guardian Jet Bikes creeps forward. Fire Dragons leaps out of their crippled Wave Serpent and makes a quick dash toward an empty Sister Rhino guarding the center objective.

Fire Dragons level their Fusion Guns and fire into the rear of the Sister rhino. Despite multiple penetrations, the Rhino was only immobilized, stunned, and weapon destroyed. Guardian Jet Bikes fires Shuriken Cannon into the Immolator, but only succeeds in immobilizing and destroying its weapon. War walker fires at into one of the left Dominion Immolator and succeeds in blowing it up. A couple of Dominions, outside, are cut down by flying shrapnel.

In the back, Fire Prisms fires a concentrated blast at the center Battle Sisters. Once again, the large blast scatters wildly off, but this time landing on top of combat between Celestian and Seer Council. Seer Council makes their saves, but the Celestian does not.

Freed from assault, Seer Council fleets and assaults center Battle Sisters. Some how only the Veteran Sister Superior dies while the rest makes their armor saves. Without the inspiring presence of Book of St. Lucius, they fail their moral test. They attempt to flee, but are swiftly cut down. Seer Council consolidates back onto the Sisters objective.

In assault, Fire Dragons finishes off the crippled Sister Rhino. Eldrad stabs a Celestian, taking no wounds in return. Celestians passes moral test.

Turn 5 (Sisters of Battle):

On the left, Dominions advances through the building towards the Dire Avenger Wave Serpent. Empty Dominion Immolator circles around the building on the left, park in front of the Eldar objective. Battle Sister Rhino circles around the building on the right, stopping an inch away from the Dire Avenger Wave Serpent. Battle Sisters disembark.

In center, Palatine and Retinue marches towards a Fire Prism. Center Dominions disembark from their Immolator and converge on the Seer Council. In the back, empty Celestian Immolator creeps up behind the Fire Dragons.

During shooting on the left, both Dominion squads fires their Meltaguns at the Dire Avenger Wave Serpent, but missed of fail to penetrate the Xeno armour. However, Left Exorcist scores a lucky hit and wrecks the Dire Avenger Wave Serpent.

Center Immolator incinerates the Fire Dragons. Palatine’s Retinue wrecks a Fire Prism. Shooting from Dominions and Immolators downs another Warlock. Middle Exorcist annihilates all 3 Guard Jet Bikes in a single salvo.

In assault, Dominons on the left assaults the Dire Avengers, but fail miserably. They lose one of their own and are then massacred after failing their leadership test. Dire Avengers consolidate back as close as possible to their objective, but are blocked off by an empty Dominion Immolator and disembarked Battle Sisters.

Dominions in center assaults the Seer Council. The Eldar command squad butchers three Dominons. Dominion Sister Superior chips away the last wound off the Eldar Farseer. Dominions successfully pass leadership, locking the Seer Council in combat.

Eldrad finally finishes off the last Celestian. Freed from combat, he consolidates toward the center Exorcist.

Turn 5 Eldar:

Dire Avengers fires at the Battle Sisters, but inflicts no casualties. Remaining Fire Prism fires into the Battle Sisters, but the blast scatters harmlessly off the table.

Seer Council finishes off the Dominions in assault. Eldrad assaults the immobilized Exorcist, but only succeeds in destroying its weapon and stunning the crew.

Game ends.

After measuring the distance, it turned out my top-left Battle Sisters were half an inch away from the Eldar’s objective meaning no one controls either objectives. However, Eldar player gets a couple more victory points for scoring kill points.

Result: Draw

Sister Superior Tristana drops to the ground and barely misses getting her head cut off by a speeding Warlock on a jetbike.

“They are moving too fast!” cried Sister Adrianna. “we need to find…urk” Adrianna is unable to complete her sentence as Farseer Xiel unleashes a bolt of eldritch energy blowing a clean hole through Sister Adrianna’s chest.

“No!” cried Tristana. Tristana and Adrianna shared a deep bond that went far back to when they both trained as Sister Novice. Advancing to the rank Dominion, they survived countless battle together. Now with Sister Adrianna dead, Tristana’s world is turned upside down. Hatred and vengeance cloud her judgment.

Tristana levels her bolter and wantonly sprays a hail of bullets at the Farseer Xiel. One bullet hits the jetbike’s anti-gravtic motor. The jetbike violently pitches left before crashing into the ground. Trapped underneath, Farseer Xiel struggles to free himself, but to no avail. He then desperately discharges bolts of eldritch energy at approaching Sister Superior. Blow after blow mortally wounds Tristana, but rage carries her on. Standing on top, Tristana unsheathes her combat knife and plunges it into Farseer Xiel’s spirit stone and through the Farseer’s chest.

A scream of agony rips across the battlefield, as Farseer Xiel’s soul is suck into the void. Tristana collapses, her vengeance complete. She closes her eyes and rests in peace.

All across the battlefield, Eldars succumbs in pain to the lost of their beloved Farseer. “All forces withdraw”, commanded Eldrad.

nice game. i am however seeing alot more MSU armies concentrating alot on killing during objective missions than holding objectives.

i have the same problem with my DE. i get into gun battles, then get locked down in CC, and finally am forced to make quick decisions on turns 5+ to cover objectives. i think making an effort to claim at least one objective from the start of the game (or at least T2) would significantly add some pressure to an opponent. moreso than i think it would give them a difinative target in the early game.

You mentioned at one point that the seer council was locked it cc then freed as a fire prism blast killed their opponent soi they could fleet and assault. Aren't bikes not allowed to run?

Great game, SabrX. That's one mean, eldar list. Eldrad's eldar have always given my armies problems, especially their damn Runes of Warding to my usually psychic heavy wolves and nids. Good to see you give them a good whipping.

However, the eldar player made a couple of mistakes, one of which was minor and the other may have made a difference in the game.

Eldar jetbikes cannot make the extra 6" movement in assault after turbo-boosting.

As hvy3mynd pointed out, bikes cannot run. They could still assault....they just couldn't have fleeted.

Haha, sharp as ever jy2.

Actually, I've had this report partially written long before our recent game. I just forgot to edit it.
