I think the land speeder model is the ugliest new-generation model GW makes, but turning it from a flying car to a flying warthog makes it look pretty awesome I think. I cut windows in the doors and put some tape as clear window, but I’m not satisfied with the job done with the doors. It’s hard to manufacture parts that match the excellent detailed McFarlane warthog, but I thought completely closed doors would look odd considering the size of the front window. I’d like to put scouts visible inside the cockpit, since in my army all vehicles are piloted by scouts, not armored marines.

I got a yellow no-trespassing sign to use as cheap plasticard and used it to close the cockpit and to pad up the engines to make them fit flush with the warthog. I spent entirely too long working on the windows trying to get them to fit and bend and I'm still not happy with them.

Step 1, disassemble warthog and land speeder. The warthog unscrews into several parts. My land speeder was model glued, so I was worried I’d have to carve it up, but it just sort of split apart when I started prying on it. I cut open the bottom back of the land speeder to use upside-down as engines in the warthog’s back. This makes the warthog look less like a truck and more like the Delorean time machine, pretty badass IMO.

Check out the finished but unpainted product! Sure there are some rough edges, some parts I could attack with green stuff, but for now I’m priming them and calling them done version 1. If I nitpick and perfectionist they’ll never be painted, and I’d rather fix some paint later than leave them unpainted and unused forever.

Check out the front of the one on the left. I thought I would mount the weapons to the inside fender, but suddenly I realised it’s the perfect place for a jet style air intake. So I cut out the fender panel along the lines the toy gave me, and put part of a hair comb behind it for an intake grill and to hide the ugly plastic innards. I’d like to do this for the other one too, thankfully it’s screwed shut rather than drilled shut, another benefit of working with toy models!

Can't decide on a paint scheme so these will remain primed black for now

Nice work blending the two kits, it works really well. The current Speeder kits are one of pet hates too, so I can see why you've done it.

I vote for Wartspeeder.

It looks pretty good, to be honest. The shape of the nose end looks nicer than the standard one, and a lot more aerodynamic. Nice work.

I have recently been diagnosed with swelling in the brain, so please excuse spelling mistakes and faulty sentences. I am losing my ability to type and talk effectively, but dammit, that is not going to stop me from trying.

I put some brown wash on my windows and now they at least match the windscreen. They're now on their extendo-bases so they're able to cruise high over the battlefield or come down to hide behind buildings. If opponent has a problem with that ability (which none have so far) then we'll just play with them all the way down. I always thought it was stupid that flying cars couldn't get a bit higher in the year 40,000. In the fluff art they're seen cruising around like planes.

The base stems are from a cheapo remote control car's radio controller

Oh and the missile launchers and gun are magnetic of course. I refuse to glue any weapons!

Lol, RvB quotes aside, looks like you've got some pretty awesome models. They look too torpedo-y for stable flight though, maybe a fin or two extra? Or maybe something in the front wheel wells, they look kinda empty...
