I have it on quite good authority that following the release of the Stormraven Gunship with the Blood Angels new models in a few weeks, the next issue of White Dwarf will contain rules/fluff which will enable all Space Marine chapters to use the unit.

Whether or not this is happening because of the rumoured Flyer ruleset expansion is anyones guess, but with BA definately and GK almost certainly getting the Stormraven, I am pretty confident that this will be confirmed in due course and there will be Stormravens all around!

Things have been pointing this way for quite a while, and it is well covered in both the SR thread and GK thread... however, rules in the next WD is a new rumor... so i'll refrain from my usual snappy don't double thread vitriol lol

Who besides Stickmonkey has talked about a Flyers expansion? I wouldn't put a lot of stock in it unless it was said by someone who knows what they're talking about.

I can't remember specifically, but I think others also said they had heard about flyers themselves, Kroothawk would probably be a better person to ask.

It makes sense that all Space Marine chapters would get Stormravens usable so long as you're playing FlyersExpansion the same way that they can use Baneblades and Heirophants so long as you're playing Apocalypse.

It seems unlikely that we'll get a Nightspinner-like WD-approved addendum to all Space Marine codecies.

Whether it will will be rules for all armies to field flyers in normal games such as the Stormraven or Valkarie, or whether it will be an expansion such as Spearhead is yet to be seen.

Everyone has their own opinions, I'm just getting it out there as it's from a *very* good source.

Why not? FAQs lately are there to sell more models.. DA/BT one, deff rolla, etc.. So now storm raven

I think this was worth it's own mention, as many other people may not be following that thread if they don't play Blood Angels.

I'm 75% excited, and 25% wishing they had a model that was less butt-ugly.

I can't see GW missing out on an opportunity to make easy money. I'd expect rules to pop up in White Dwarf in the next month or two - they said they wanted to do more stuff like that after the Night Spinner came out, now would be a good time.

Yeah, I heard the rumor too... except... what do you call it... oh, it was conjecture. I don't doubt that this will occur at some point in the future (unfortunately), but I don't believe the rumor, simply because so many people are guessing that this is going to occur, I'm sure someone out there read one such comment, turned to their friend and said "They're saying that they are going to be publishing rules for all SM chapters to use Stormravens in White Dwarf after the model is released" and then the friend goes and takes that rumor online to a website and says "I have it on good authority that they are going to be publishing Stormraven rules for all SM chapters to use in White Dwarf like a month after its been released."

I've seen it happen before. I have been a victim/perpetrator/perpetuator of such behavior before. Take it with a grain of salt people. Ditto the flyer expansion (although I've been hearing more concrete sounding noise about that as of late).

It seems (to me) that you're the first person to actually say they have a source on this. I remember when the original rumors leaked about a big summer flyer release it didn't actually contain any info about any kind of supplement or rules at all. However, on that thread about 20 people jumped to the conclusion that a Spearhead style supplement would be released along side the models,a nd within a day this"rumor" of a supplement was being repeated pretty much everywhere.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but I haven't seen ANY rumors that imply that it will. Just a fair amount of rumors that indicate that several flier models are on the horizon (The Stormraven and the Dark Eldar ones being the only ones we have any real idea about).

So yeah, I was considering this rumor complete bunk until you posted and said that you have a very good source.

To clarify, the only source I've ever found on a Flyers supplement was Stickmonkey's thread a few months ago - and that thread was moved out of the rumors forum for scepticism. In this thread he mentioned that the Stormraven would be released around this summer expansion.

When even Warseer rejects something you gotta take notice.

Well, almost all rumours about the Storm Raven predicted WD rules for every SM chapter in the same month, so this is not new rumour.

Warseer mods are very quick at closing threads. They even banned all Tyranid rumour threads when people insisted on posting rumours on units bigger than a Carnifex other than the Trygon (Tervigon as seen on the cover, Tyrannofex, Harpy). So closed rumour threads on Warseer don't mean anything.

So 2 "heard at my stores", Stickmonkey, and the fairly accurate but ultimately unrelated DE second wave releases.

Yes, three confirmed additional flyers in the first 6 months (currently only one flyer), plus several others rumoured by several sources.

If Kroothawk believes it to be true, I also believe it to be true.

I expect there will also be a special spikey Stormraven released for CSM players that will cost £15 extra.

The real question is how many Thunderwolves can fit inside a Stormraven?
