Hi all,

I've scratch built a wheeled version of a Imperial Guard Chimera out of cardboard, still need to paint some of the details though, anyways.., here are the pics.

Lower hull.., I've added a frame inside to make it a bit more sturdy

I commend the scratchbuild but it doesn't look like a wheeled chimera...

I used wheels of some old 1:35 kit I had lying around.., think was an M35 truck or something.., the kit came with a jeep too, don't know if it's still in production though

Be very proud about it, did you just cut away on impulse or did you lots of pre versions of it?

Thank you very much, I made a design first on paper which can be seen on some of the pictures in the background, then I drew the dimensions on cardboard

Very nice, but I've got to ask, why use cardboard instead of thin plasticard? It's tragic to see a model so well thought out and put together that is also apt to warp with humidity and just fall to pieces if it ever gets water splashed on it.

Viktor, well.., success with it looked at your airship, which looks really cool too

Ailaros, I wanted to use plastic card actually, but I don't know of any hobby shop near my home town that sells it

i have begun with a landraider once and used plasiccard but i lost interest cause of the tremendous force i had to use to cut the material... cardboard will be my nxt choice of mats then...

well, I can say it's really easy to work with and if you put enough energy in it, it will look just as good as plasticcard

you're welcome

I also have trouble getting plasticard in my area so I order online. Hobbylinc.com usually has some decent specials and they have some cheap models as well.

http://www.hobbylinc.com/Model_Scratch_Building_Plastic_Supplies

The trick with plasticard is to NOT try and cut all the way through, just score it with a razor and then bend it. It will snap nicely along the score line...

Good work, though I find the vehicle itself kind of boring, though that's probably cause all wheeled APC's look somewhat the same.

Thanks for the link and tips on plastic card Depraved

I also found this model on that site of yours, http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/ita/ita2622.htm might use it as a Valkyrie

at depraved, i read that to ans second that to some extent, as sometimes you just has tocut through, corners and small parts and stuff like delicate detail...i had a sore hand for about a week when doing the initial work... i know i did something wrong but i am damned i dont know what...

I found the fastest way to score plasticard is with a paper cutter. One of the kind you use for scrapbooking. it has the added benefit of making your cuts completely straight.

Also, check your local hardware stores. I was very suprised when I found a small rack of sheet styrene between the brass fittings section and the hacksaw rack. If they sell pieces of PVC pipe, they might well sell sheet styrene (plasticard).

That diorama looks nice as well.
