The dark silhouette of the Black Ship Eternal silently slips into the Fenris Star System. Boasting an array of cloaking technology, the Inquisitorial Stealth ship eludes detection from the planet’s long-range sensors.
.....
Inquisitor Lord Antonio stood on the bridge, peering at Fenris’s surface below. The hostile planet known for its deadly seasons of fire and ice was experiencing a brief spring.
“Incoming transmission,” chirps a ship Servitor.
“Patch me through,” orders Antonio.
The main auspex screen switches to video, displaying a tall muscular space marine clad in Runic Armour and adorn with battle trophies. Antonio notices unlike other Wolf Lords he had met, this one had lupine features.
“Damn you Inquisitor lots sneaking into our backyard,” bellows the Wolf Lord, “you have thirty seconds to give me a good reason why I shouldn’t blast you to smithereens.”
Antonio smirks. “Go ahead and shoot all you want, but my ship is invisible to your radar,” he replies.
The Wolf Lord frowns and contemplates for a few seconds. “Fair enough,” he replies, “but I doubt your ship will remain hidden once the Great Company’s Chapter-fortress returns, so state your business.”
“First off, who are you?” questions Antonio.
“Harald Deathwolf,” replies the Wolf Lord.
“Well Harald, my agents heard a rumor that there exist a legendary Space Wolves unit known as the Thunderwolf Cavalry,” said Antonio. “Have you heard of them?”
The Wolf Lord’s posture stiffens. “Never heard of it,” replies Harald.
“Unfortunately, there’s no records of them in the official Imperial Archives, but I found an interesting vid-steal I think validates their existence,” said Antonio.
Antonio streams a video replaying three Wolf Guards riding into battle on top of three monstrous wolves. The hulking beasts carve into a group of Mega Nobz, tearing them from limb to limb.
“Frak! Where did you find that?” stammers Harald. “ I thought my boys took care of the loose ends.”
“I’m an Inquisitor, it’s what I do,” Antonio calmly replies. “Hiding information from the Emperor’s Inquisition is a capital offense. I demand you submit proper catalog regarding this secretive unit.”
The Wolf Lord snorts. “Yeah, like I’ll let you and your girl walk in one of the most impregnable fortresses in the galaxy. No, I’ve got a better idea.”
Inquisitor Lord Antonio crosses his arms over his chest. “Enlighten me.”
“You want to collect data for the Imperial Archives, so what better way to collect information than through a little training exercise between my boys versus your girls,” said Harald.
Antonio thinks it over for a minutes. “Deal, but it has to be non-lethal and a place of my choosing.”
The Wolf Lord chuckles, “whatever you want Inquisitor, but my boys likes to play rough. I hope your girls are ready to get their arse kick.”
“We’ll see about that,” replies Antonio.
.....
Three hours later, the Order of Faith headed by Canoness Dianus makes planet fall on a remote island, farthest away from Space Wolves' fortress-monastery. Upon arrival, Dianus orders her Seraphims to scout the region for the upcoming training exercise. She and the rest of her mechanize army advances east where she’ll meet up with the Space Wolves.
“Canoness, we have finish switching out our war gear to non-lethal weapons.” Informs Veteran Sister Cath. “Our Sisters are equipped with shock maws, stun bullets, and quick drying liquid concrete for Flamers.”
“Good,” replies Dianus. “Much of our forces are fresh from the Convents. This training exercise will provide good experience to our Sister Novices.”
Just then a series of feral howls rings in the distance. Seconds later, a barrage of krak missiles screams toward the Sisters convoy, slamming into the lead Exorcist.
“I knew they would play dirty,” yells Canoness Dianus. “ Veteran Sister Cath, call the Seraphims back. All forces switch to standard gear. Let’s teach these impotent dogs never to underestimate the power of faith.”
.....

Afterthoughts:
Despite my newbie mistake in forgetting to deploy the Seraphims, I felt my game play was overall solid. I lured the Wolfstar into focusing their attacks on the closest vehicle. With the Deathstar clumped up, I unleash the full force of my army. I was surprised most his Deathstar survived. Wolfstar is really durable against both volume and high strength AP1 shooting.
White925 was plague with bad luck throughout the game. Despite having two Long Fangs units, he only destroyed two out of nine my vehicles. His Wolfstar and Scouts fumbled a lot of attacks against my vehicles. The Wolfstar did better against infantry. They single handedly took out all but one Battle Sister squad and one Seraphim squad.
.....
Harald growls in frustration. He had underestimated the Ecclesiarch shock troops. Earlier, he had rode into battle with his Thunderwolf Cavalry and three other Wolf Lords. Now he was the only one left.
In the distance Harald could see a Rhino flanked either side by Immolators treading towards him. ‘Frak’, he thought, ‘how can I be losing to a bunch of mere female humans?’
Harald pats his Thunderwolf Icetooth’s burnt mane. Both he and his mount had been through a lot together. The massive Thunderwolf snarls at oncoming vehicles. “My thoughts exactly,” he says to Icetooth, “I’d sooner die in a blaze of glory rather than surrender my pride.” Harald nudge his mount forward. Icetooth picks up speed, bounding faster into a galloping charge. At the top of his voice, Harald screams, "For Russ and the Allfather!"
.....
Dianus winces as a Hospitaller begin stitching a large gash on the Canoness’s side.
“Yeah, we’ve captured him and his mount,” reports Canoness Dianus over her vox. “He put up one heck of a fight.”
“Don’t worry,” Atonio voxes back, “Once we reach Hell Rock I maximum-security prison, I guarantee Harald Deathwolf will pay for all the troubles he’s caused us.”

Really good battle report with great detail and similarly impressive pictures.
Two nice looking armies and a really good battle. Once you forgot to deploy the Seraphim I thought you were done for!
A seriously good battle report, thanks for the read. I think his bad luck can compensate for your newbie mistake!

Very good battle against a top-notch army. Wolfstar really is a very tough, tough build to play against, especially if the general knows what he is doing. IMO this may be the 2nd toughest SW build to play against, with the first being SW MSU razor+long fang-spam.
BTW, I believe the list is slightly incorrect. The TWC should be:
-3 Thunderwolf Cavalry, 3 Storm Shields, 1 Power Fist, 1 Meltabomb
TWC may only take 1 Pfist per unit.
Now, I got to get working on my batrep against Frankie's list.

Wow, so much white on both sides...
Awesome game, well done in defeating a very, very scary unit. As far as reserving Seraphim (accidental or otherwise) goes, I've sometimes found that deep-striking with Seraphim, while risky, has yields great results: more than once, a squad of deepstriking Seraphim has come down and roasted a unit the enemy thought safe. Of course, I would not recommend such a tactic against the Imperial Guard and their spoilsport Naval Officer
Once again, great game, I look forward to more.

Great report.
However as soon as I saw the lists and it came up seize ground I was 99% sure that a win was coming for the SoB's.
That Wolf list is deadly but not at all well rounded.

Thanks for the positive feedback folks!
@jy2:
Thanks for the corrections! I pm'd Frankie, but he didn't reply. Reecius gave me a rough list, but it was a little different having 3 Long Fangs rather than 2 Long Fans + Scout.
@Lord of Nonsensical Crap:
I haven't thought about deep striking my Seraphims. It probably wouldn't have helped against the Long Fangs. It's challenging to land them close enough without mishapping or scattering too far. Long Fangs frag missile spam decimates most infantry.
But I'll consider using that tactic next time I'm in a pinch.
@kiwitexansfan:
Had Frankie used the same list that won him 3rd place in Sprue Posse Grand Prix Tournament, it would have been a closer match.

I don't think he frequents dakkadakka that often anymore. Yeah, he modified this list for the Sprue Posse tournament by dropping the scouts and adding another unit of long fangs. I think after the practice games he had with us, he found out that he needed more shooting and adjusted his list.

Sorry for resurrecting the thread ... I haven't checked Dakka in a while.
The SW list looks illegal. 3 of the 4 Wolf Lords look to have the exact same wargear combination, which is forbidden on pg. 81 of C:SW. (Unless you're forgetting a few odds and ends that allows him to satisfy that rule technically ... I mean, really, change two of those PFs into a TH and Frost Axe and at least then he looks like he's trying to obey the spirit of the rule)
They do have different Sagas, true, but that's not enough to satisfy the rule. Sagas are factored separately from wargear.
To say nothing of the fact that 4 Wolf Lords in one list suggests that 4 Great Companies have combined forces and sent only a tiny fraction of their respective forces down to fight. Disgraceful.

@StormWolf:
Thanks for bringing it up. I've tried contacting White925, but with little success. He isn't active on dakkadakka. Fortunately, his list is less than 2000 points, so perhaps there were a couple of upgrades he didn't mention.The list I posted was deduced from the game and induced from Sprue Posse Grand Prix Army Lists posted on another website.
As for fluff, a lot of gamers value competitive builds. At least White925 spent the time and money to make a Thunder Wolf Cavalry closest the real thing. Plus, we all know Space Wolves are glory seekers out to make a name for themselves as mentioned on page the same page you brought up.

I'll ask him. I doubt its illegal if he has taken it to about 5 other tournaments, And no one caught it. But i'll let you know.

On the contrary, 4 wolf lords called together could be the chosen heros to smite whatever grave foe that needs smiting. There is much glory and honor in that. Or, they could be all that remains of a titanic struggle and represent the last of their great companies fighting for survival, and so on.
I don't see anything wrong with it, and the fluff could justify it any number of ways.

Most of my games takes place at either Games Workshop Oakridge or Game Kastle. However, this particular match too place at Black Diamond Games.
From what I hear, white925 is quite active in tournaments.
