I have only recently started up my DE army (when the new stuff was released) and have only just got around to start the painting work. I'm currently painting a raider but i'm such a perfectionist that its taking me forever lol.
I'm working on a purple colour scheme for the army and so far it seems to be working alright. Well i dunno what it's gonna look like on the armour of my warriors as ive not started them yet but it's looking good on the ship.
Will post up some pics in a while, need to find my camera first.
As for my building project, i'm just adding the finishing touches to the detail so it should be finished pretty soon, again will post pics up in a while

Excellent work bro! Is it really your first army/are you artiscally trained? As they look very good for a first attempt. BTW speaking from experience the schemes always look great on the warriors, the new models just love paint i think!

Trust me the pics do not do this justice. And yes it is her first army. Lozza, foofighter and myself regually meet up for paint sesions and throw alot of great ideas around.
And purple realy does suit the models I think, and it helps that she is a perfectionist so she spends days just to get those perfect lines.
Nice work.

Really nice start to the blog. The highlights are super neat I must say and the building is looking good too. I've just got an Imperial sector myself so any terrain ideas will probably be stolen..sorry I mean borrowed at a later date, lol.

hey guys, thanks for the positive comments, i'm feeling quite good about how this army will look when its finished
purplefood wrote:What did you use as the base for the terrain piece?
Well i used a thin piece of ply wood that i got in a modelling shop, measured it all out and cut it to size, i also got some gravel (usually used as ballast in model railways) and covered all the areas that needed sand. i then sprayed the whole thing black and then sprayed a light coat of grey to add definition. i used some of the items from the battlefield accessories set to add details to the terrain and painted them up and ta da

i think purple flames would definitely help tally them up with my army as a whole and keep it all consistent. I was originally going to have white sails on the ship but as i was layering up the colours i didnt like the way it was turning out so just painted mechrite red over them instead the sail isn't finished as i was planning on adding my kabal symbol to it

yes this really is my first 40K army and no im definitely not artistically trained lol my other half thinks im just naturally good at this these aren't the first models ive ever painted as i started the hobby with LOTR and painted some orcs, but even then my other half was annoyed because my painting was better than his was when he first started. i so should have done art at school. ah well too late now

Sounds good. Love to see people doing freehand designs. And judging by the perfectly straight lines on the raider the design should come out really cool. Can't wait to see it

Not bad. I have had some good success using purple wash over either straight white, or rotting flesh to give a rather cool purple look to models.
It could look good on DE.
