The Fall of Carver V

Once, Carver V was a quiet and peaceful planet that was forgotten during the Heresy. Abandoned by the imperial government and without the supervision of the inquisition the settlers have built an independent colony on the rim of the imperial sector. Xenos and rogue traders were a common sight in the space ports of the six hive cities: Hive Prime, New Haven, Logos, Keid, Nanking and Procyon.

Now, Carver V lies in ruins. It has been five months now since the bombs fell. An orbital bombardment from a bypassing Necron fleet nearly devastated the whole planet. The survivors were driven to the borders of the collapsing hive cities and out into the wasteland.

In the midst of a sandstorm on a small highway out in the wastes, Sgt. Reynolds halts his men. The soldiers seek
cover on both sides of the road, their guns pointing towards a large shadow appearing in a dust cloud a few hundred
meters in front of them.
As the shadow approaches it splits into three humanoid silhouettes that walk steadily towards Reynolds’ men.
Finally the storm starts to calm down and a large man in power armor sided by two kroot steps out of the dust cloud.
"I am Ifrit! I'm here to help!"

Hi guys

I haven't been posting much lately. But I'm still workin on my =I=munda gang from time to time.
But now I somehow feel the urge to start a IG army which will hopefull build up to 1000-1500pts.

Heavily inspired by migsula's Legion at Rhisienne thread I want to build a true scale Space Marine as a Straken stand in who gathers the survivors of the assault on Carver V around him. A mobile army wandering the wastes, looking for survivors.

For the starting 250pts I will build 2 veteran squads and a company command squad that will later be acompanied by Ifrit and his 2 Kroot bodyguards. I hope this thread and you guys keep me motivated in completing project.

@migsula: If you're reading this, I hope you don't mind me stealing your Straken stand in idea. Your work has always been very inspiring.

Wow... It has been over a year since I wanted to start an IG army... and I really can't remember what kept me from starting

But here I am... back from the dead... and for all of you who have been waiting for my replies - I don't know if anybody did... but I just tell myself that there were at least a few - here are some WIP shots of some vehicle conversions I'm currently doing

One is a scout vehicle with a satelite interlink to call in Ion-Strikes from an orbital defence satelite that is still intact after the bombardment.
In game I will use it as some kind of artillery.... basilisk or something like that.

The other one will be a wheeled Rhino which will hopefully turn out to be a good chimera in the end.

The chimera is taking shape, but there is still a lot to do.

- cover the lego-parts with platicard
- build a suspension for the front wheels
- convert the turret to a ML
- add a hull mounted weapon (not sure if HB or HF in 6th)
- add lots of detail and vehicle accessories

C&C on the conversion as well as on the hull weapon options would be welcome

Thanks for the nice comments.

I'm nearly finished with the chimera conversion. Just some little greenstuff work to fill gaps and attaching a hull mounted weapon.
I'd be happy if you tell me what you think about it and if it can pass for a chimera.

So here are the pics

I haven't posted anything lately because I was very busy at work and thankfully was distracted by a lot of free time activities with friends afterward.

But I hope I can post you some pics of a very small number of WIP veterans. They will feature some minor greenstuff work and some weapon conversions.

All of these are still concepts as I haven't decided on the overall look of the army yet. My goal is to give at least all of the veterans a very individual look as my intention for these is that they are mostly ex military, mercenaries or hive gangers. Hopefully the paint jop will tie them together in the end. Color wise I'm thinking about something like this

I've also decided to include an infantry platoon. They will either represent leftovers of Carvers PDF or of an Arbites/Police Force. But I haven't decided on a color scheme for them. I think both the fluff and color decision will be made simultaniously when I finally have a picture of them in my mind.

Hi everybody

Here are some early concepts of my veterans. I'm not totally pleased with them yet but you might get an impression of what I want to do...
The pics also feature some weapon conversions I intend to do on part of my army.

c&c as always very welcome, so don't be to nice
