[code]Hi all im just starting an eldar army and painted up my first test guardian, any tips or colours that you dont think work, or any others that would work, im all ears anyhoo heres my pics

It's an interesting colour scheme but I find it hard to give any really good advice. The purple is nice as wel as the emeraldy foot bling, the orange eyes really does nothing for me but your mileage may vary.
Personally I like the face to be the focal point and in that aspect the gun needs to be a neutral colour, the as-is black might be boring but I think it would work really well, add a nice contrasting colour to your gem-stones and always keep them the same colour for both guns and armour to add a unifiying feel (I think lime green would look nice against the purple).
A lot of rambling but hopefully some kind of advice in there. Don't forget to posta picture of your final choice

Personally I quite like purple and bone colours together, so perhaps using bleached bone washed with sepia/devlan wash would give you a good looking gun which contrasts nicely with the black and purple armour?

The blue tags look great and the face and eyes break up the model nicely.

I think the green could do with being a bit more defined though.

Thinking of doing any freehand on there? Some pinky/purple vines or abstract curves would look pretty cool.

I was but im not sure, I do like the vines on the w,s/falcons, I might later on

Tribal motifs - bone with a black edging?




This one seems to fit the body shape quite well, although is a little thick. You could thin this out, and have a second underlying design mmiicking the first, with tendrils stretching out over the wings.

The catapults were done buy a few watered down coats of bone till it covers then a thin black wash on the details and finally a greyphone wash

Just obtained a lil under 1k pts of eldar and got stuck into the already modled wraithlord, did some cutting and shutting and wound up with this fella, the only thing is im not sure if hes taunting or offering a lady friend a hand up a ledge lol

If you have a macro setting on your camer (usually looks like a flower), you need to turn it on

Or use more lights. I can't really see too much in these images but they look OK to me.

Thorn motif looks good, and a quick zoom in on the images shows great highlighting skills!

It was on macro lol, only one fluro for light though. I took another pic after I fixed the left side a lil bit.

Are you planning on adding some shading/highlights to the vines to make them stand out a bit more?

A gark grey "core" to the vines with a lighter grey accent would look pretty cool.

Yea I was thinking that, I dont have any grey on me so il leave it for now, gems are the next stage.
