+1 Str for like 5 points? To autocannons or assault cannons? Hell yea. Then the Reinforced Aegis upgrade for free AND the ability to ignore stunned shaken.. pretty much for free..
Other Dreadnaughts should just go somewhere and be a toaster.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Thought I read something about detachments that allowed you to write separate lists for higher point games in the core rulesbook though.

If you're following the rules, then unless you're playing an army that specifically allows you more than 2 HQ choices, you can't. Of course, if you can get your opponent to agree then that's fine. You can field T10, W10 Guardsemn with S10 AP1 lasguns if you get your opponent to agree.

Well, that is possible, but it's not common. I have never seen multiple detachments fielded, except in megabattles where such things were previously arranged. If you should up to game with a multi-detachment list...I'm not sure I'd be willing to sit down and play them. The FOC is there for a reason, you're not supposed to go beyond it.

There's a REASON why nobody uses multiple FoC charts anymore.

3 Long Fangs squads is bad, but 6? Supported by 8 Wolf Lords on Thunder Wolf Cavalry?

I use to use 2 detachments at 2000pts because I did not have enough troop slots.
