This is the most competitive version (in my opinion) of an army I am building at the moment. My other list incorporates some more 'fun' units like Spyders and infiltrating Scorpions. It comes to 1745 and I don't know where to put the extra 5 points.

Farseer - 95: Doom, Runes of Warding
Fire Dragons – 190: 5 x Fire Dragon, Wave Serpent, Spirit Stones, Shuriken Cannon
Fire Dragons – 190: 5 x Fire Dragon, Wave Serpent, Spirit Stones, Shuriken Cannon
Fire Dragons – 190: 5 x Fire Dragon, Wave Serpent, Spirit Stones, Shuriken Cannon
Guardians – 95: 10 x Guardian, Scatter Laser
Guardians – 95: 10 x Guardian, Scatter Laser
Guardians – 95: 10 x Guardian, Scatter Laser
Rangers – 95: 5 x Ranger
Rangers – 95: 5 x Ranger
Rangers – 95: 5 x Ranger
Night Spinner - 170: Night Spinner, Holo-Fields, Spirit Stones
Night Spinner - 170: Night Spinner, Holo-Fields, Spirit Stones
Night Spinner - 170: Night Spinner, Holo-Fields, Spirit Stones

The idea is that all moving infantry is slowed and whittled down by the Spinners, and they will decimate any horde-y units. 6 Troop choices so objectives shouldn't be a problem, with the main aim of capturing my own side's ones and contesting the others with Skimmers. The Farseer is a bit unimaginative, the cheapest I could make him, and ideal for the 15 rangers focussing fire on a dangerous enemy unit. With all the dragons and rangers (not to mention scatter lasers) monstrous creatures and walkers shouldn't be too much of a problem. I can possibly see problems happening with Raider/Rhino spam because of the lack of ranged Str8. Its a bit unusual but what does Dakka think?

This is... An interesting list. I have no idea how well that this would work (especially since I always take Pathfinders instead of Rangers, but I suppose you don't have the room to do so).

Honestly though, Night Spinners in my experience are not all that great. They sound awesome on paper, but they don't work that well, especially against all the mech-spam that is going on.

Since they're the same price, I'd actually say that this could be a REALLY cool list if you had three Fire Prisms or two Fire Prisms and a Night Spinner. That way you can take out vehicles with the Fire Prisms AND take out infantry. Just my two cents.

Yeah good advice. I'd take two prisms and a spinner .

LoneLictor on thread about an ork choking the Emperor:

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

I've seen a few lists making use of Guardians for troops, and then trying to gunline it up. I would really focus on doing this with your list.

personally I would drop all of your ranger squads, leaving you with 3 squads of guardians. Then add embolden warlocks, so the guardians are less likely to cut and run, Eldrad, and drop the night spinners for 9 scatter laser war walkers.

Then with 3 guides a turn... you can imagine what happens next. any heavy armor gets nuked by the dragons.

essentially, I'd try something like this

Eldrad

Farseer- Guide

5 Dragons
Wave Serpent- tl cannon

5 Dragons
Wave Serpent- tl cannon

7 Harlequins- 7 kisses, shadowseer

10 Defenders+ warlock- scatter laser, embolden

10 Defenders+ Warlock- scatter laser, embolden

10 Defenders+ warlock- scatter laser, embolden

3 War Walkers- 2x scatter

3x war walkers- 2x scatter

3x war walkers- 2x scatter

thats a lot of twin linked s6 shooting

Xom finds this thread hilarious!
