Just finished my Blood Angel army, here's pictures and background for it

The Wing Striker strike force was composed by the late Captain Haftrion of the 3rd Company. The strike force would be in two attack waves which work in concert together or can work as a single force. The 3rd company is split into two forces; one mechanised in Razorbacks with Vindicator support and the other half using jump packs.

The Razorback force would be the vanguard of the force seeking out enemy armoured forces which the Razorbacks would lay down a torrent of lascannon fire forming the "strike" part of the force. The second part of the force, the "wing" will deep strike from Thunderhawk transports attacking enemy infantry which have been blown out their transports or focus on armoured targets with melta weaponry which lascannons cannot deal with at range.

With the enemy occupied with the deep striking Assault Squads the Razorbacks can move forward unleashing a torrent of fire from the Razorbacks and Vindicators, the Assault Squads will disembark from the Razorbacks to support their battle brothers already engaged in combat.

The above strike pattern is not always feasible against a particular foe such as Tyranids or Orks which can easily take advantage of the arriving Assault Squads from Thunderhawk transporter and swamp them. In this case tactics are changed which the jump pack aided squads will keep cover behind a wall of Blood Angel armour as the Razorbacks and Vindicators use the lucifer pattern engines to cover ground quickly while laying down supressing fire. Once the armour is within range for the enemy to launch an assault, the battle brothers using jump packs will launch a counter assault leaping from behind the Razorbacks slaughtering the foe in a melee, battle brothers from the Razorbacks will engage to support the units using jump packs if required.

Captain Haftrion himself was killed by a warband of Iron Warriors several hundred years ago. Librarian Varios was assigned to command the 3rd Company and as of yet a replacement Captain has not been named. The 3rd Company has been split dividing the strike formation, Librarian Varios leads the armoured porition of the force and has claimed revenger on the Iron Warriors and erdicated the warband in recent years. The other half of the 3rd Company has been assigned to deal with a small bioship of Hive Fleet Kraken which has been slowly harvesting small worlds and gathering strength. It has been heard this portion of the 3rd Company was destroyed by the Tyranids on the planet of Howsayyer but this has yet to be confirmed.





Librarian Varios has attached several other Librarians to the 3rd Company under his command, though Varios is the highest ranking Librarian almost at epistolary level. Librarian Judis leads the armoured force of the 3rd Company with Varios while two other Librarians lead the battle brothers using jump packs. Both Varios and Judis have selected battle brothers from the 3rd Company to form two Honour Guard squads. Honour Guard Varios prefers to use meltaguns for armoured destruction leading from the front and as a visible anchor point for forces attacking enemy armour, or monstrous creatures. Honour Guard Judies favours flamers using these to clear ground and infantry formations and then moving into close combat.



Squad Artico is joined with Priest Solomon who is keeping a watchful eye over battle brother Sarkis who has shown promise as a future Sanguinary Priest. Even though currently a battle brother, Sarkis will assist Solomon on the battle field with wounded battle brothers, it won't be long before Sarkis joins the ranks of Priest hood. Sgt Artico has severed with the 3rd Company for two hundred years, he's more machine than man now thanks to a Carnifex attack durnig the Battle for Jericho campaign which saw Artico take a direct hit from bio plasma melting his armour destroying his legs and injurying his face, though Artico crawled up to the distracted beast and rammed his power sword through the animals jaw right through it's brain and out the other side of its head killing it out right.





Squads Arjenko and Forlax; Arjenko himself has recently been promoted to Sgt while Forlax is part of the 1st Company and either is usually boarding Space Hulks in Terminator armour or sometimes is part of Vanguard Veteran squads. When not required by the 1st company Forlax while assist the 3rd Company his tactical knowledge spanning three hundred years proving invaluble.



Squads Deviss and Serra, Sgt Deviss has been awarded the iron halo for extreme bravey which Lord Commander Dante himself was struck down by a powerful Ork Warlord. Deviss launched a one man assault against the giant Ork severing the beasts hand and allowing enough time for Dante to gather himself. With the combined might of Dante and Deviss the Ork Warlord was killed in combat and the Waaagh! halted. If it wasn't for Deviss charging into battle then Commander Dante certainly would have been on the Warlords trophy rack.

Sgt Serra is a veteran Adeptus Astartes serving the Blood Angels for seven hundred and fifty years. He is part of the 1st Company and drafted into the 3rd Company when required.















Librarian Judis armed with the Blade of Angelus, a anicent force weapon rumoured to be constructed by Sanguinus himself. This blade was given to Judis as a sign of respect from Librarian Mephiston himself when Librarian Judis saved Mephiston from certain death.



Vindicators Vitae and Divine II have been attached to the company since the former Captain formed the strike force.





















Sgt Vorro part of the 1st Company prefers to use two close combat weapons instead of ranged fire power, armed with a gifted power weapon and his original chain sword Vorro lays waste to all those oppose him. It's suggested Vorro prefers dual combat weapons as in the 1st Company Vorro is part of a Assault Terminator squad and armed with lightning claws.

Good work on getting the army done so quick (i remember one of your reports from a few months back where you were using like all proxies). I like your las plas conversions and the army really makes one appreciate how cool massed SM tanks can look. As to the cheesiness of your list......

Aye was mass proxies with yellow Rhinos, unpainted Rhinos and other stuff lol. Took me about 4 and half months maybe 5 to do this army, that's getting more tanks more marines and painting it.

I like the Fluff, I love it when people develop their own doctorine it makes for more interesting battles and innovative tactics.

I am a little confused by the following above, the TLC Razorbacks should be able to kill anything Armoured and even penetrate Armour 14 if not glance so what is the need for the Melta Assault Marines going for Armour that the Lascannon Razorbacks couldn't? I would have thought you would have used the Assault squads to smash MEQ heavies with Plasma Pistols, Chainswords and Powerfists. A few AC Razorbacks to kill light infantry and you are dancing the jig of victory on the enemies decapitated skulls.

I use TLC on Razorbacks a fair bit, they are pricey but punchy especially if you are sporting 3-4 of them you tend to smash Enemy Armour to bits quickly. Just a minor query really , otherwise I think this is a great way to battle and adds character and flavour, I would love to do an APOC game as a Co-Op with you, seeing a wedge of tanks drive through the city as half a company of Marines drop out of the sky and my Gunline Army holds the enemy in place...Awesome.

Great army Mercer! What's it's total point value?

Firstly they're not twin-linked lascannons but las/plas and secondly you don't fire lascannons at av14 when you need a 6+ to penetrate, that's why you have melta for. You don't take power fists because cannot assault out of transport and power fists are best assaulting armour. Assault Marines kill infantry once the tanks have popped armour, they get out and unleash flamer and then assault later if they can that's why they have power weapons for.

Great work and perseverence to finish such a massive project. Love seeing more BA brothers to increase our presence on the battlefield! Personally, I like a little diversity. Having an army like this would just make me want to collect something new. Im sure its an effective list, but just lacks interest to me.

Thanks for the update mate I'm glad you're enjoying them and you son is. I did check your blog and see a picture of a painted Warrior, looking good. I'm looking forward to seeing the Prime done.

Thanks man. I'm not a massive detail painter I just do things pretty basic and then a wash, but at least it looks good then I like that.

Thanks man. Yeah, I hate proxy internet lists if you get what I mean with people using the current favourite list then moving onto something else. I really liked the Razorback Spam style list so I went with it and did it. I doubt you will see many like this.

Ah Mercer! So good to see your army fully painted!!! I think you should drill out the barrels of your weapons to really make it a stand out army! But as a fellow Blood Angels player! I am in AWE!!!! I salute you sir!

Wow, wouldn't want to be on the end of that... Great to see it all painted too, see a lot of grey armies with that much armour. You've put in the effort to finish a whole army and it's paid off.

As constructive criticism consistent basing on the plain bases with the texture and cleaning up the few models which look like they have a plastic piece on them would take this army from good to great!

I really like the plasma las turrets, cleanly and consistently executed.

Also seems like a well tactically themed and synergistic force! Well done again! I bet that's fun to play and effective!

Sorry I thought your Assault Squads were coming in via jumppack Deepstrike not assaulting out of a transport, My mistake. You can fire TLC against 14 with a strength 9 LC can glance or Pen 1/3. If you are using 3-4 TLC RB you've got fairly good odds over 2 turns to take that bad boy out. I agree about your sentiments that Melta is better, The PF is good character killer and Armour smasher. If your sporting TL PLASMA's MEQ won't be a problem.

I fought a tourney battle against a BA RB spamlist, it was a really good game. I lost as I couldn't dislodge his assault squad off my objective, but he lost all 7 of his transports as I have a melta heavy army and alot of TLC on my RB's and Dreads, his superiority in Assault carried the game.

The bases actually have been based with sand I just painted them all and you probably cannot see. The plastic showing is my fault as I just throw them into a box and there isn't a lot of space. I've got a new box and will be touching up the paint damage.

You have 1/6 chance to penetrate not 1/3 because the lascannon will only penetrate on a 6+ and nothing else, that's rubbish. Power fist is no good because I cannot assault out of Razorbacks. I need to get out the Razorback and then assault which sometimes isn't always possible, I tried fists and hardly used them.

What's your melta heavy army?

Mercer my Melta heavy list 1500pt gunline, (usually used against Mech armies)

1 x Libby (GOI + any other)
1 x 5 man sternguard (LC + C-FL + 2xC-FL + 2x-C-MG
1 x 10 man Tac (C-MG + MG + ML) + RB (TLC)
1 x 10 man tac (C-MG+MG + ML) + RB (TLC)
1 x 5man Sniper (Telion + ML)
1 x Dread (MM + PF)
1 x Dread (Rifleman 2 X TL AC)
2 x LS (HF + MM)
5 x Space Marine Bikers (MG + PW + MB)

I play IG alot so Tanks are my main concern when using this army. I do change the Sternguard to PLASMA Combi's if going against lots of MEQ's. Telion and Scout snipers deal with MC's quite well. try to follow the 3M's as much as possible and use the Bikers and LS together.

Apologies for my typing I wrote " chance glance or pen 1/3" I shoudl have written "with a 1/3 chance of a Glance or Pen" against an LR its probably a bit pointless because of the Machine Spirit rule.

I am after more RB's have you found any cheap sites in the UK? I have been grabbing sprues as and when from Ebay and magnetising them..I am working on a magnetised Rhino to RB where the Top hatch assembly changes over completely so I can have magnetised turrets and a magnetised Rhino "Top" so I can swap it from Transport to Armoured Fighting Vehicle to Predator.

Allways nice to see a painted army, and a BA one at that
List wise it looks pretty solid, so you shouldnt have too many problems.

However, monlith's will give you hell, more so when they spam 3 of them.
And if your up for a game at some point, i would be happy to do so

Nice list and army. I'm starting a blood angel army, but looking more towards assault marines, death company, and dreads with some vindicators and storm ravens for support. I like the way your list looks, would be interesting to play against.
