Was playing in a tournament today, and we were a little stumped on a question; searched around Dakka a bit, found what looked like the right answer, but weren't sure, so checking for next time.

In an Annihilation game, do Drop Pods (and Chimaeras, and any other dedicated transports) count as another Kill Point? Or are they just a bit of the unit that arrived in it?

They are a kill point.

Okay, that we did correctly.

It didn't come up, but will a Drop Pod also contest (though not hold) an objective?

Immobilized vehicles cannot contest objectives. Or so my friend tells me. You can probably find it in the objectives section of the rulebook. Around where you find the FOC chart info.

There is no such rule.

Make sure to read the rules on objectives clearly.

ANY model within 3" of an objective contests it.

ANY Troops model that is not a swarm nor containing a rule that disallows this, will control an objective if within 3".

If I use -><- I'm not mocking you, it's a reflex from using the " silly" icon on every other forum.
However, if I use this -><- I might just mock you.

which gets even weirder, seeing how you americans tend to use [the F-word] more often in various meanings than a smurf would use "smurf".

Dedicated transports of troops count as troops but they cannot hold objectives

Transports and immobilized transports can contest objectives, just like anything else.

All vehicles, including dedicated transports count for KP purposes.

They count as troops for holding objectives if they have their Dedicated TROOPS unit inside them.
