Hmm... it still looks a bit too lasgunny to be a bolter in my view.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

It needs the Foregrip thingy to really look like a bolter but removing the stock wold be a good start...

My goal, however, was to create a cheaper looking bolter that could be mass produced more so than the SM ones. I would like to maintain that look rather than making it look incredibly similar to the SM bolter

The issue I would have with that is that every bolter that is or ever was made has a distinct look about it. Somehow it just doesn't lend itself to a lasgun to bolter conversion. The bolter is supposed to be stocky rather than long IMO, and thats where I think this design falls down

Just my 2 cents

The Bolter has a very unique design to it. In particular the foregrip is what makes it distinctive. Taking way the stock would be a start.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

it may be possible. Try removing the 'barrel' part at the end completly where the aquilla is.
Having the larger muzzle gives it a 'bolter' vibe to me. Only other thing you could try to make
it even more bolter-ish is to make the magazine longer so it looks less like the lasgun cartridge.
Of course I'd have zero idea how this would turn out, just some thoughts.

why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

The SM scouts kit has those arms only with a bolter in it they are abut the same size.

Or, you could add a stock to a bolter and use it that way. I don't know if it will look good or not but it might be enough to make it distinct from SM bolters.

Another thing to try is using the older (2nd Edition) bolters instead of the current ones.

I would make it shorter, maybe take off the little bit that the bayonet would be attached to. However, altering the top rail to look more chunky and more bolter-y would go a long way, but could be tricky...

what i did for my storm trooper sarge was take the SM scout arms and legs and put a cadian torso and shoulderpads on there

when done properly the seam between the arm and shoulderpads just dissappears

Alright, here is the new and improved bolter. Personally, i think it looks a little stubby and short, but tell me if i am wrong, which i probably am not.

Looks good to me, if your wanting to tweak it a bit more, maybe a stock on it (to help with the recoil and give it a bit of unique appearance) possibly a wire frame one but honestly it looks fine to me.

There ya go.

You don't have to have the grip on it, though, if you don't want. Having just shortened it was probably enough.
