A month later and 160 hours gone, but it's finally finished. 16 truescale marines, and just in time for the local tourney. I had to run them as Space Wolves wolfgaurd terminators for the tournament, since someone ended up complaining about my base sizes, but they still did okay. Ended up tabling both my opponents with them in one game, and although I lost the other two, they still didn't do too bad. I still look forward to playing the completed army as they were intended to be played though. I ended up winning best painted, which was pretty cool.

Anyway, without further ado, the pics!

First off, just a nice shot of Woden leading his men... to the judging table!

And here's the big daddy himself, Asagrim Woden (counts as Librarian or The Sanguinor, depending on the size of the game):

And here's his most trusted Sanctifier, Haephestos (counts as Sanguinary Novitiate):

The Honour Gaurd:

The High Executioner (counts as Lemartes)

The Executioners:

The Assault Marines:

And lastly, the model that started it all, the original prototype:

And here's the Gallowsmen in action, blocking some allied Guard from incoming fire:

And me winning the best painted category at the tourney (I can't smile in front of a camera, I don't know why):

It's a little bit too muddy for my taste.
Hides the great paintjob underneath.

Anyway.
Awesome work you did here!

Haha, congrats to that person for being TFG

It's not like your army is balls-to-the-wall competitive, it is clearly a "look" project. Complaining about the bases is just sooooooooooo lame

Should be back 'round the middle/end of April. Might even have the Dreadnought done by then too.

Mighty impressive! Lovin the paint, those guys haven't just been through hell, they're wearing half of it!

I think that the sheer volume of mud detracts from an otherwise amazing models. I mean, it's almost a two-tone scheme with the top half being painted normally, and the bottom half being painted mud/grey. Maybe that's just personal taste though...

I like how imposing they look on the table, especially next to the IG! Impressive work, especially the mud. It does cover a lot of the piece but it creates a "I want to see more" feeling.

I'll chime in with the "Nice job, but too much mud effects" crowd.

If you are just walking around, it takes a lot of effort to get that much mud on you.

Also, the Cleansing and Purifying Rituals after battle must take FOREVER!.

Representing the chapter's fluff (see my sig), each marine has been fighting for around a month without resupply or any real rest, representing the final moments right before they died (except for the Chapter Master, who actually ended up losing his arm a few days before he died).

So essentially, it's a month's buildup of dirt and grime from fighting in a destroyed sewer/city (because they would have to exit the great tomb from the sewers, with the main entrance blocked off by enemy forces).

I respect the attention to detail and talent needed to paint clean Marines, but I love it when they're painted to look like they've been in combat. These guys are awesome! They look like three hundred year old warriors who've been completely devoted to the art of war.

It took me a few looks to get used to the blend of different pieces used to make them, but all in all they look proportional.

Awesome Job!

As usual you are doing great stuff! I love the red hot power weapons and the weathering. Makes me think I need to grunge up my Carcharodons when I finally paint them.

He was one of the prototypes, trying to make a version that was compatible with jump packs. I can't really do anything to change him up too much now. However, if I do come across a spare tabbard, I'll probably toss it on him, which should help fix his eating disorder. He is supposed to be an honour gaurd anyway, so he should be a little more ornate (he was made long before the other honour gaurd, so he looks noticably more drab than his brothers).

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Very nice work. Shame that someone complained about the bases, but that's life. Should have countered that as they are bigger than normal marines, it should be easier to shoot them from far away, so why are you worried about them getting into CC?

Hell, a third of the army is Death Company too, which makes the increased line of sight even worse for me.

But he just countered with how being easier to shoot isn't such a big disadvantage since they had 3+ armour, and how I could use their large bulk to block tanks and give them a cover save.

Which is funny, since I dont' run tanks. At all. Ever.

Basically, TFG. I decided to just let him have his way and not argue it further, it's not that huge a deal either way. I won't be doing any more tournies with this army anyway, less headaches that way. The rest of the group are all good people, so I figure I'll live.

Nice painting indeed, but what did you do to truscale them besides add terminator legs?

...That's kind of the entire point of the army.

Tell me which one looks the most 'off.'

Not too sure I get what you mean by that. I can see 2 possible meanings here:
1 my marines should look a little weird.
2 "this guy does not know what truescale means"

Your second "question" kind of implies number 2, however the GW standard space marine obviously looks most off. Big head, short legs and everything that is complained about in the many "truescale marine" topics.

I think your prototype guy looks realistic, as do some others, but then the last honor guard guy and Haephestos for example do look off to me. Can't exactly pinpoint why, but they do.

Unless of course you did mean option 1.

Just my 2 cents.

Amazing stuff, the only one that looks kind of out place to me is the guy with the flamer. All the other guys are in these dynamic poses, but he is just kind of there, I guess. Awesome stuff, though.

Oh, and just for your pleasure, here's a scale comparison using my Krieg Commander and a marine I just threw together with some spare parts.
