Okay so I am putting the finishing touches on a space marine version of Buzz Lightyear. Now he is not a Pixar Buzz Lightyear but a 40K Buzz. So he's in power armor and toting a Plasma Rifle, (because thats the way the character strikes me) My questions involve the base. Now this Fig is going to be for play, so I'll be happy to hear feedback on a display base idea or two, but for the purposes of a "play" base I was thinking of doing a real Toy Story kind of send off with it, a hardwood floor paint scheme on the base itself (similiar to Andy's room) with the arm of a lego man, and a self done puzzle piece and one of those really tiny counter die, to give him the look of the large size toy that Buzz is. I was also pondering the idea of not using the lego arm and instead sculpting a cowboy hat from green stuff.

Some thoughts would be appreciated. I do plan to do several more in this style because I think it looks really good and I think a group of them would look really nice on the table. And then after I've got a tac/combat/command squad (that way they can all be rocking plasma pistols or combi's) then I'll do one nice one for display with a nice fancy base for display only.

i would suggest using a green armymen arm instead... would fit the bill way better...or have a whole armymen lying flat on the ground with andy written on its base...

Except Buzz is a lot bigger than an armyman. and a SM is a bit smaller.

Maybe if they make a (much) smaller version of green armymen?

oh....i've seen some of those and they might just do the trick. However to print ANDY on the bottom of those might be a bit of a stretch

If you wanted to use a toy soldier/green army man that is in the apprximately correct scale, (i think?) I would grab one of the figures from Axis and Allies.

I found that the Flames of War are a really nice size.

I was at one of my FLGS on Sunday looking at them and getting an idea. But if I can find something better I will. I also saw a nice vehicle kit with a group pf army men at Hobbytown, it was like 35 bucks and the army men inside were perfect but I only need like one or two and not all the rest of the stuff so I passed on that for now. However I may go back in the future.

As for an him being and inquisitor and the others being his retinue, I could totally repaint a extra Cad Bane SWM I have into a Space Cowboy Woody, Take an Ork and add some green stuff and that can become either Hammie or Mr. Potato Head. And for the Dinosaur, well there are lots of options there.

With a few small details remaining Buzz is finished. I have the base painted, again it is not anywhere as nice as the one above, I put a tiny red D6 on it and custom made a puzzle piece to rest under Buzz's back foot. and then took a piece of sprue (one of the round pour spout sections) and made it into a lego brick that is laying on its side.

I did know that actually but...hum.

Okay so I decided that Flames of War was too big, I always recall buzz being more like in this image.

So I bught a small group of the Dark - - for like 4.00 USD and they work perfect

So I found the miniatures I wanted to use for the small army men and I went with Dark Realm miniatures. They have a nifty line and one set looks very eldar like another looks similar to marines and they are very inexpensive which is key. I only needed a couple so price was a big deal. So just a little while long and my Buzz will be finished.

I referenced this thread in a post as mentioned above. Thank you for the link however. There is some very nice looking stuff in there. He's doing a whole army, I just did one guy. So good luck to him.

Do I need the Cow spots on the back of Woody's Coat or can it go without and be okay?
