Subject: Settlement 228, let the uprising begin. Story and blog

Now im new to 40k and i enjoy everything to do with chaos and all of its spiky bits that follow along. Much of what Ive learned is only from the imperial armory book that my friend let me see, he also copied the sections for me from a pdf to help me make a renegade list, and so i thought, why not take my cadians and jungle fighters into a renegade army of angry militia men? So i have taken it upon myself to create a full blown army of chaos devout, autogun carrying fanatics that will follow a greater army of CSMs. They are the Sons of Helios, the space marines at least, my own custom chapter. (You will see why they have their name in a moment.) I am only on my 6th box of units and am working as hard as i can to create a unique army with which to field at my local store.
With inspiration from the forge world kits and a lot of green stuff and a little help from my fellow chaos follower, The Night Stalker, i hope to have an adequate force of renegades. My work so far isn't finished for the most part being that i have school and other priorities i will try to update this blog as much as possible.
Note that this is my first Army and i know its not necessisarily the best choice for a beginner and the truth is, id be the only one with a renegade list at the local store and thats just fine with me.

Great start man! I really want to see those WWII weapons used (use the gasmask!), also that one guy with the CSM arms looks really out of proportion, try to either thin out the arms or bulk up his torso.
Also cut the spike off the skull headed guys helmet, it looks silly.

Update, Made a salamander scout today out of the chimera that The Night Stalker gave me, also made my Helios Champions and a Champion of Fire, rocket launcher guy and a couple of autogunners, waiting to get greenstuff tomorrow as to keep up with my progress, leave comments on what you think i should do. Now the men from the Helios war band are fanatics of the fiery brand. They carry wrist mounted flamers and are heavily based on cqb. Much of their soldiers have taken from the imperial armory on the planet and have acquired many weapons from the black markets that are very common on the planet.
PICTURE HEAVY

Finished some more of my soldiers, heavy stubber guy, a guy with two autopistols and my vox pack guy. Also made a veteran with a chainsaw bayonette for his autogun. There will be more pictures up in a bit, working out a new color scheme for my renegades. I posted some of my work from today. Trying to get by without greenstuff, its hard. Please leave comments for opinions and ideas for my renegades.

The militia and their supporting unit of the sons of helios were on a raid when they encountered a patrol of terasian hell fighters, a pitched battle ensued. The helfighters fought gallantly and slayed many a renegade but were decimated. Thanks to the night stalker for helping with my army and the creation of my arkos the faithless.

I played a match today, got my army tabled, crazy match for me, I've barely got 1500 points and it was rough. My opponent, was one of my friends and he played a very mech heavy list. His models were amazing, and he brought out strakken and I got to thinking, can I have more then 1 special character as the renegades? Arkos is the only one I know of and he's a good character, but are there any others? I decided to create one, and just one, my psyker alderus the blind. He is a bit better then a primaris psyker, but other then that, he's not amazing. He has a chance to kill him self, 2 wounds and a slightly better stat tree. Nothing ridiculous here is his finished model though, he is based off of my first post psyker.

Today was a long day, i was sick and had no work ethic at all in regards to my army of renegades though i did find time to create a sergeant who didn't look like the rest of my men. He is wearing scrapped cadian armor and has a combat shotgun. Now i don't have good brushes and the pictures aren't of best quality, but i tried something new! Here are the finished results from today. I also will obtain my renegade resin kits hopefully on Sunday. Then the fun begins. I also will be putting up the stats for my rogue psyker hero, whom i butchered the painting on last night and is really just a primaris psyker with a bonus. dont hate my special character, i am only allowed one other. Other then that the only reason for no updates is for the fact that i need new brushes.

This thread is 100% win! I'm a huge fan of anything that stands against the oppressive tyranny of the Imperium, and it always warms my heart to see their own weapons turned back against them. I have a similar project underway, and within the first couple posts there's a list of other Dakka threads w/ similar goals, check it out if you want, there's a wealth of information, advice, and inspiration on those threads.
You have great GS application and I am loving the creativity of the conversions. Subbed and will be back for more!

Update time! My entire army has been repaired and repainted with a new and gray blue scheme. I've finally gotten my forgeworld orders and created my actual renegades which are almost done being painted. A lot of my army is very infantry based at this point as I only have 1 sentinel a chimera and 1 russ, all repainted aswell. I have a baneblade on its way, I ordered it yesterday and am expecting it by Wednesday. The rebels are now part of a campaign at the moment too. Sadly the raid on the city armory didn't go as planned. Image heavy update!

I was thinking a rocky base or one that resembles a metal instillation.
"Welcome to settlement 228 sir." A Sergeant says as he hands the new CO his report,"Theres been a lot of activity concerning an old Shadowsword that was found in the site of one of the old ships from a Krieg Regiment."
The colonel takes out a cigar and begins to ponder, then stares at one of the tech priests monitoring one of the various instruments, "At least this planet can have something to be proud of, this whole place isnt even properly mapped, let alone had any thing happen here, as far as im concerned this place is just a frontier world with pine forests and some munitions factories."
The tech priest turns around, staring with cold and calculating red eyes of glass and a body more machine then human and points to a screen, "There is something you should see before you speak about a quiet settlement."
The colonel turns around and stares at his command unit and says "Well, lets go to work shall we."
Far off in one of the remote factory districts a large mob had formed, not your average one, one full of genuine hate and anger. The mob is more of a militia, wearing simple cloth masks and carrying one of the few weapons produced on the world, a simple and basic autogun, the lasguns ballistic brother, they are of an odd pattern, a carbine of sorts, but this is no matter as this mob has intent. Their leader is a blind man, standing upon a small railing upon a factory preaching about the imperial injustices that will happen to this small planet if action is not taken to secure a life of their own against an oppressive system that is only here to put them down. His voice is crisp and clear, pure and full of vigor. As he speaks a few guardsmen wearing bluish gray uniforms come walking over, not with intent to do their job, they holster their las guns and fall to the prophets words, like orks to a pile of shiny mines.
An officer from one of the factories grabs his sword and orders the workers to their places. Not a single sould pays attention to his words and his wild swings of his simple sword. The officer not taking heed of the crowd, runs to the balcony and charges the blind man. This would be a mistake that would cost him his factory, and his life. The old man doesnt even flinch as he catches the hand of the officer, crushing his wrist and sending his large and burley body hurling to the open ground across the square. The entire town has turned their back on the empire and it will be a long and hard fight in order to secure their freedom. It is a fight they are willing to make in the name of their leader, Alderus the Blind. To be continued.
By the way the Militia is called the Sons of Obscura, it is composed of both imperial guard companies from the local pdf and chaos worshipers, united for the good of the planet. More fluff every few days!

With most of the milita having only chimeras, one engineseer devised a plan to use some of the simple field guns set up to defend the town from which they would begin their uprising. With the body of a destroyed chimera he began his work. Many hours passed, but before the nest day a new type or vehicle was made, sporting a medusa cannon and a thick shell to protect it, the perseus was created. The gun is mounted in the recess of where the old housing was for a squad to be carried, it also has no blast shield.

The second day dawned after the factory and its town turned to a new sense of hope and freedom, from guardsmen to those who worshiped the dark powers of chaos and the simple workers who just wanted to keep life the way it is, their march to claim their home as their own began. The ranking officer of the militia defending the first town to be brought under Alderus wing was that of Braton, a small factory town on the fringe of the vast expanses of a pine forest. Though only a few thousand strong, the rebels had one major advantage, a psyker and the power of a shadowsword that had been liberated from a nearby frigate that was long lost and degrading rapidly. The tech priests quickly repaired the massive vehicle, as they knew they would face an inevitable battle with the regiment stationed at the capital. Though some of the crew was filled with untrained workers, they were quick to pick up the necessisary skills in order to man the monster.
While the peoples of Braton prepared Alderus lead a small expedition to gain support from a group that would become essential to the freedom of this planet, the tribals and mountain folk...
More later! Keep watching!

Remember that odd looking artillery piece that had not one bit of color or any thing that made it special? Well it is now a wonderful addition to the rebel army, created from a salvaged chimera body and an old field piece that was long past its time, the vehicle and apc were fused in a long day of work and revisions. The crew, a tank commander and a sergeant at arms for the artillery division have been tasked with working this savage beast, and now the moment of truth!

I was going to have all of our armies center around this story, with the Chaos marines coming to aid the rebellion with the Tersian hellfighterr paired with the white consuls and crimson palladins making up the imperial forces.
"Liuscas glared at the slowly rotating dusty brown globe from the viewport of the Night Lords battle barge Tempustus. It had been eight long months since he and his battle brothers had departed the holy fragment of ancient and holy Nostromo, at first he believed this discovery to be a sign of a gift of the gods, but alas it was nothing but a curse as the inquisition had soon caught wind of his ships presence and the inevitable encounter had expended the 23rd legions dwindling resources even further. At the battle's climax Liuscas was forced to withdraw his forces and the fragment itself was lost. This was not a total loss however, for it seems the gods did manipulate his fate during those days. For on the fragment the Night Lords 23rd had encountered a new ally, other traitor marines, clad in the armor of the Space Wolves chapter, they were defectors and heretics alike, marooned on that forsaken rock for their crimes. But flourish they did, and when their "prophet" Kadrak had met with Liuscas an alliance was bonded. This was not without taboo though, Kadrak's company was rife with the corrupt of Khorne, many marines had fallen to his call, becoming brezerkers, raving madmen whose only purpose was to spread bloodshed in the name of their diety. Even now, as he gazed out of the massive viewing window aboard his ship, he could hear the faint warp screams of those individuals chained to the walls in the hangar bays, for if released they would attack friend and foe alike, and although Liuscas despised the humans who lived upon his vessel, he knew that they were all skilled mechanics, artificers, serfs, and pilots and could not do without their aid. Kadrak, was a more scheming individual however, touched by tzneech as well as the blood god. In visions he would receive guidence from the runious powers and was even able to call an avatar of the blood god to his aid, for he was not someone to be trifled with. His scheming caused Liuscas to question this alliance on more than one occasion, he knew Kadrak was a valueable ally, but did not trust his motives. Liuscas still sternly gazed at the planet held before him, determined to end its pitiful existence as an imperial world. The bulkhead behind him shuddered open breaking his concentration. In strode the form of Anasad, once a librarian of the Night Lords legion, but now more of a magnus of sorts. Anasad bowed before Liuscas "My lord we have continued to receive visions from the planets surface, they are still trying to contact us." Dismissivly Liuscas scoffed "Do they mistake us for some imperial vessel?" No my lord, they seem to recognize us as servants of the four, our scouting craft have made note of small scale skirmrishes along the planet's surface." Liuscas's tone swiftly changed "Who are they and what might they ask of the power of the four." " There is a man my lord, he appears in our visions, mine, Quintis, and the prophet's alike, a blind man shouting praises to the four, rallying the pathetic humans down there to his call, asking the warriors of the gods for their aid." Behind his helm Liuscas began to smile, this was what the gods were telling him to do, that planet down there would be the killing field and victory his prize. "Ready the dreadclaws, I want 1st and 5th claw deployed and contact made with this usurper, for the gods are calling brother, and we are more than happy to meet their desires."
Trooper Radik Breathed a sigh of releif when the news had finally arrived, the rebellion on Tersia's surface had finally ended, the rebel leader killed in a firefight just under the town of Gelhalo. He could understand why the nomads were upset, Tersia was a very wealthy planet, with the bulk of its citizens enjoying a comfortable life on one of the many floating marble cities that dominated the skies of Tersia, the cities themselves were built upon great columns of marble and supported by a rigid plate structure. The people of Tersia were mostly made up of the wealthy and upper working class who made their money through the resource, weapons, and art trade. For the imperium is a very vain organization and the many ornate statues and shrines are produced on Tersia by thousands of Masons and artists alike. The surface of Tersia is covered in nothing but forests with the trees growing thousands of feet tall on ocassion, for the foliage is so thick that the ground cannot be seen from the cities above, and it is in this unfamiliar land that the nomads live. The nomads of Tersia are a tribal people, not governed by imperial law but by their own customs, on occasions tribes have made contact with the cities, trade routes are not uncommon and nomadic men make pristine soldiers, some tribes have even accepted the god emperor as their savior. However, not all tribes are peaceful, there are many nomads that despise imperial rule and strive to fight against the law and poverty that has kept them oppressed. The latest war had centered around a nomadic uprising, this time lead by a strong and resilient leader who conducted terror attacks against the plates and structure units of Tersia's cities, though no severe damaged was caused, the native military force, the Tersian Hellfighters were called in to put down the rebellion, it had been eight months, eight godforsaken, hellish months Radik had spent in those jungles, constantly under attack, seeing trusted friends and squadmates killed by ambushed and booby traps, towards the end he was beginning to think the land itself was trying to kill him. When the news had reached his camp of the rebellions end, he and his squad had rejoiced, shouting praises in the emperor's name. Now in the dark cramped interior of his squads chimera APC he was looking foward to returing to the city, and leaving all of this savagery behind. Before long the APC came to a stop and the elevator systems on the plate began to bring him up towards his home, or so he thought.
"Slight change in plans men, we are being re-routed to Helios square, official orders" shouted the sargent, the men started to grumble, Radik removed his helm and facemask and began to wonder what this could be about. It was a silent ride, even though he couldn't see it from the inside of the chimera, he knew he must be on the streets of Tersia prime, the biggest of Tersia's hive cities. The trooper across from Radik removed his mask and began to speak. "You know what the officers are sayin, were going to another war" "No way in hell", retorted Radik, "we have just finished our war, its probably some official politial nonsense, the govenor likes to make a big spectacle of our victory over those savages." "Not a local gig" excalimed the trooper, "But, you know, on another planet." Just the thought of leaving Tersia itself made Radik feel sick. The rear door of the chimera flew open and light flooded in, Form up! he heard his sargent shout and they disembarked into the square. upon the stage that dominated the front of the square a lander was deploying its gear and disengaging its engines, the men of the Tersia 14th stood at attention along with 9 other infantry regiments. everyone was waiting silently, looking foward to coming home, but dreading the possibility of another conflict. the bay of the lander swung open and soldiers started running out into formation, not ordinary soldiers, honor guard, some very important individuals were obviously on board. One guard proudly displayed the flag of tersia, while the other two sported Kantrael pattern lasguns, common on other world but a true rarity here. Trooper Radik glanced over at his own weapon, he had forgot it was even there, it was a standard Tersia pattern lasgun, utilizing a twin barrel system for an enhanced rate of fire stabilized by a larger power pack, Tersia lasguns were much heavier and consumed more power than a normal lasgun but they packed one hell of a punch. Three men exited the lander, these were the big shots that everyone had been waiting for, one Radik immedietly recognized, Commander Morgan a Tersian man with immense military and political power and influence. The second man was completly unknown, he was obviously a general, his medals shining bright against his black greatcoat, his peaked hat proudly displayed the aquilla, and he wore a ver very ornate saber and pistol on his belt, an off-worlder though, that was for sure. The third man made the crowd fall silent, for all were struck with fear at his mere presence, he wore a black great coat, adorned with hundreds of commendations, he was obviously a commisar general, but it was his mask that gave away his identity, for the skull shaped mask and rebreather marked him as one of the men of Krieg. The man from Krieg strode up to the podium and began to address the crowd, his voice was authorataritive and uncaring. "Loyal subjects of this most beautiful imperial world, I am General Fredrik Von Shrieder, I represent the greater interestes of the servants of the emperor, I would like to commendate all of you soldiers on your recent campaign to purge the heretics and successionists from your land. However the battle is not over..... Terror began to take hold of Radik as he realized that hi fear ofbeing hauled off to fight a forieng war was becoming more apparent every second. he glanced at the men around him but nobody moved and their facemasks blocked any expressions of anxiety they might have. The general was still speaking " And so we call you, seasoned fighters of this blessed land, for the taint of unbeleif and rebellion has struck another world and we must act as the hammer of the emperor and strike down the heretics!" all of the men around him cheered, but he had the feeling that they weren't really happy but just acting as soldiers should. As much as he wanted to run, to escape the perpetual madness, the endless violence for causes unheeded, trooper Radic turned and began to file into a transport ship to await further orders.
Wow that was alot of writing, I'll probably do the SM stuff next, then you add more then when the fighting starts, we should play games to determine where the story goes.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

Settlement 228 was falling apart by the seams, many towns had fallen to the words of this powerful prophet, his powerful speeches captivated men and spell bound them with his powerful tones and preaching of a better and free world away from the empire that was so far away. Many of the town had sent their militia to join with the prophet. Alderus met no resistance as he marched towards the capital binding the militia, PDF and the famous Warriors of Stoa to his cause. The warriors of Stoa were a fanatical group, militarily, they were clad in bronze and wore cadian style armor that was caste in a resilient metal that shone in the sun. Their standard gear consisted of a Pantheon Pattern Las gun and a medium sized inward bent sword that would hack an ork in half with only a few swings, their elegant large helmets shown with a crest on top signifying rank or wealth. Their only thoughts were of battle and perfection in everything they did, they were the perfect candidates for such an uprising. With the Stoic Hopliti he feared no man or any army the Imperium had upon the planet. The methodical march through towns with their armor and shields glistening as they embraced the words and teachings of their newfound warlord, a man who could secure this planet as a haven for those who would soon be impressed into mass factories spanning the whole surface of this planet.
With the large detachments of PDF and militia joining Alderus, something had to be done, a heretic needed to be dealt with. The storm of imperial war was coming to this planet and Alderus knew it long before he would spread his words across the planet. The Imperial Aristocrats had sent their best to create a defensive line at Corinth, the largest city outside of the capital, only a few miles from Kraos, the capital where spires of white marble and black granite shown high into the sky. The capital spire was being prepared as well. Many of the defenders feared for their lives as they were the only defense that would prevent the fall of the capital. At Corinth the ageing guns of the defense walls were not in working condition and the Imperial troops were poorly prepared for what was coming their way.
From the walls Col. Leondas knew that if he let them in, he would be allowed to join the ranks of the militants and to become something he wasn't, an important figure of this planet, and he would let that chance slip by his greedy hands. With a wall of glistening bronze and gold in the distance and a fair blue sky sweeping over the rocky and sparsely covered field that separated the massive army from him and the meager defenses, he set a plan into motion that he had been planing ever since he met this mysterious blind man who approached him. With a swift motion he headed down stairs taking off his curved helmet as he grabbed a power pack for his las pistol before he left the tower behind in a haste that was of sinister swiftness. He rallied his men, both the ones that he had spoken to and the ones he had not, there was treachery afoot and he would be the one to create it. The two small companies lined up in front of the massive marble gate, in perfect formation and those who were unaware were not even slightly attuned to what was about to happen, with a swift gesture of his hand, Leondas quickly pulled out his las pistol and the traitors grabbed the weapons of the loyalists, stating, "Let it be known that our prophet will be uniting with us at this very town, signifying that we as a planet are here to help him create a freedom that we have never known, be aware that what you do can save this planet from eternal suffering at the hands of a false hope in an emperor whose words and teachings were grossly revised for the greater good of the legions of those who wish to become powerful and to hold us as nothing but fodder for their eternal wars and their disregard for the lives they govern. With this being said the psychic choir has been executed yesterday or joined our cause in order to save us, now what say you my brothers? Will you join and be with the new League of Corinth that will form as soon as we remove the wretched filth of imperial injustice from our halls, it is your choice though i will show mercy to those who wish to live their lives out in shame when our planet is reborn."
With the final word leaving his mouth one of the defenders heaved a mighty spear at the Colonel only to find it frozen in midair by some unknown force, this would be the last move he would ever make. The rest of the men who were unaware attempted to fight a battle they were meant to loose, unaware of what was truly occurring by this killing of the unarmed and unprepared soldiers. Autoguns and las guns alike unloaded scores of pain at the falling loyalists, their last words saying that the emperor would have his will be carried out upon this wretched planet. This killing had caught the attention of a God that would secure them an iron hand in the name of chaos and coupled with the power emanating from Alderus, it became a prime are for the forces of chaos to unite. Alderus was already aware of the Astartes threat that loomed and that if he did not have help, he would surely perish as a heretic...
Continued later on and also i am building the militia that would help Alderus when i get the parts, the Stoic armies will be made as well. Being that I have finally realized what i want to do with my army i will be incorporating my love of ancient military to the fray of battle. Hopolites with las guns and Legionaries with Autoguns to be there right beside them, it will be awesome. Also if there is a lot of gramatical error, im on my phone and this took a very long time. Also leave comments about anything you would like to see with my Greek Guardsmen and leave comments about my previous stuff as well.
