Subject: Painting electric/lightning effects - HD Video tutorial
you should post a picture of the terminator here. Its hard to see what you mean from the tutorial without a model demo.
I do something very similar for my GK force weapons... though instead of a base coat of dark green, I use a base coat of mithril silver, then coat it with dark green ink... then thats my base coat for the lightning effect.
After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

I'm currently suing you thunder hammer tut on my Brother Captain stern. It's a bit different on a sword but with some luck I'll have a beasty looking force weapon.
Necron Abyss....how have I not used this color yet?
The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".
I allow all comments, good or bad!!! It's "flaming" or trolls that are never allowed
Your critiques are respectful, and quite frankly justified! Yup, after it was all put together, rendered, uploaded to youtube, one of the first comments was the spelling! Arrrrgggh.. If it wasn't so much work and time to edit it, I would, but I will leave it and hope it isn't too much of a distraction from the message.
Yes I do normally show the model first, and I don't know why I didn't this time?
The only reason that I kinda did this tutorial is because I was recieving so many positive comments on the shield. I don't have another shield to do for a while so that is why you can't see me painting it.
I am by no means a professional or even a practicing filmmaker, so I am still learning as I go. Cheers and thanks for the comments, as I said, yours was very respectful, and quite frankly, just.

Your tutorials are awesome, by far the best video painting tutorials I have seen. Using the paper as a macro example is an awesome method, and is so much easier to make sense of than just close up pictures on a mini. I think that this one is particularly good because you do several variations on the same theme as far as the structure of the lightning goes, and you do multiple colors in one tutorial. That really opens up the possibilities. The only critique that I have is that I would have really enjoyed seeing models examples of the other colors. You get the gist from the storm shield, but it would still be neat. Thanks a bunch, I will be applying these techniques.

The photo didn't come out too fantastic but I did a similar job on my LC - once I've nailed your technique I hope it will 'pop' a little bit more Edit: I should point out that I followed your TH tutorial for this effect rather than your LC one as I tried it and I felt the colours were too flat compared to the effect you got on the TH. That's just my personal preference though The only downside on using the TH tut for LC is that you don't have as much area to work with. Still looks good though if you ask me ^^.

I am both orderly and instinctive. I value community and group identity, defining myself by the social group I am a part of. At best, I'm selfless and strong-willed; at worst, I'm unoriginal and mindless.
