so iv been spending alot of time learning the eldar before i really got into buying all my units. what im looking for is a 3000 point army. i created a list of what i would like to use below for a 3k game. the guys i play with use ba (death company and dreadnoughts), sw (termi heavy), ig (armored heavy), csm (nurgle), sm (all around), nids (point heavy small squads), ork (melee rush). thank you all in advance for help with this

Dire Avenger exarch powers are multipliers - they're only worth it when you have maxed squads. Either drop the exarch from some/all squads, or take 10 models in some/all squads. Remember, there is nothing wrong with a 60 point DAVU and never have them voluntarily leave the serpent.

Dragons don't need max squads and exarchs. Each dragon has a ~20% chance to wreck even a land raider, and even in a minimum squad you get 5. Given the massive points margin, you may want to take 6 or 7 per squad, but why the exarch? Crack Shot isn't as good as volume of fire.

Also, you seem to have costed the dragon's serpents wrong.

For the Vypers, I know they're mainly a point sink, but Starcannons are terrible. They may sound like TEQ killers, but scatter lasers are just as good for TEQs and far better for GEQs. If you do want to pour points into them, my favorite Vyper loadout is EML + Cannon, because you can move 12" and shoot the EML as plasma defensively, so shooting all weapons. Still gives you the option of using Krak Missiles too. They're great horde thinners, and with so many skimmers out there they have a low threat index, especially if you play them back for the first turn.

If you want a spot to throw points, give the prisms holo fields. In 3k you'll get a lot of long range anti-tank and ordnance, especially from the SW and IG players. Holo fields stop those big one-shot weapons from wrecking your prisms most of the time.

On your farseer, grab runes of warding. They're amazing, best piece of Eldar wargear in the game. In 3k points, you've spent 85 on your HQ, you can afford to spend a bit more. I do like this though - you're really trying to get as many mobile gun platforms as you can.

Heh... then punish them for not using Psykers by using more. Run a second Farseer with spiritstones in a falcon and look at Doom, Guide, and Mind War. For example, you sit there and Mind War that Ork Nob with a PK you really take the teeth out of that ork mob to hurt your vehicles.

I agree... 5-6 man Dragons, 10 man Avengers.

It's interesting, but I've never played a game over 2000 pts that wasn't an Apocolypse game so I can't picture its effectiveness against say 3000 pts of BA or SW or... Orks...

One thing to check though. You mention two Fire Prisms and three Falcons. Is the Falcon mentioned the same one each time? Otherwise you're definitely over your Heavy slots.

its the same falcon, just mentioned what was in it.

Please let me know how running that many Vypers works out for you. I haven't used them in a long time because I feel they are just easy targets now.

i do too, but everyone shot down hawks and i hate spears anyway. spiders are my only other option and even then im still short alot of points and am still lacking good fire power.

i kinda agree with what TehScat said, vypers might be low priority with 7 ws, 1 falcon, and 2 fp.

on the field will be 7 ws, 1 falcon, 2 fp, and 9 vypers. thats alot of targets and those 7 ws have troops in them (a 3 in 7 chance of taking out the fd)

If points are a problem, jetbike seer council is the answer. You can pour 900 points into it if you try. But still, I do like your all-guns list. Vypers, despite their fragile hulls, put out a lot of firepower for their points and speed.
