Freshly painted and flocked moonscape craters. I painted them to represent some overgrown craters on an old battlefield. I pretty much did a standard hill with summer grass flock from woodland scenics and then added in some GW static grass in places.

I was looking for a cool way to model smoke and fire on the web and I found a gem. i don't rightly remember the site as it was linked just to the video, but If you can find yourself some LED electric tea candles some pillow stuffing, a little basing glue, and black and grey spray paint, you have yourself an awesome wreck counter.

The pictures don't necessarily do it justice but the Tea candle flickers within the fill looking like smoldering wreckage. just a simple switch on the bottom.

Just curious but how exactly did you do the wrecked counter...I'd like to do something similar.

Our game group has used a similar method with painted cotton balls to simulate 'brewed-up' vehicles for our WW2 games for years. I was wondering when somone would put it to use in 40k.

I can't take credit for it as I saw a video of it on YouTube. But the method of manufacture is quite simple. It's best if you have a Hobby Lobby store or something similar as they are a one stop shop. What you will need is electric tea candles, Pillow poly-fill, tacky glue or basing glue, black primer and grey primer. You can build 8 of them for somewhere around 25 USD or less. I coat the tea-candle with tack and grab a wad of the poly-fill and shape it a bit. I Then attach the poly-fill over and around the tea-candle and then I go outside and strategically paint some grey into the white poly and follow it up with more black around the base. Let it dry a good hour and you are ready to rock. The paint keeps the poly firm as well. Hope that covers it. If not keep posting!

For you nerds out there, the modular hill is sitting on top of a Dell Power-Edge Server...

Wow! That wreck is awesome!!! I've been thinking about something similar, but nothing close to that! Great job on everything, the terrain is amazing, but that wreck marker really caught my attention.
