I had a game with Grey Knights against Necrons and we wern't sure if you were able to use Hammerhand against the Monolith because it said that the unit had to use its unaugmented strength, so are you able to use Hammerhand or not?

But a powerfist is 'augmenting' the strength of the user so it shouldn't count.

I thought you could just never roll more than a d6 against Monolith, and thats it.

Necron FAQ wrote:Q. Does a model with a powerfist/claw that

armour penetration rolls?
A. Yes, powerfists/claws, thunder hammers, and so on still double their user’s Strength when
attacking a Monolith.
There now. All settled.
God almighty, I can't wait for that new Codex so we can end this debate once and for all.

or its armour will never be reduced by weapons that reduce its armour such as a dark eldar dark lance/blaster.

I think that was the point of bringing up the Thunder Hammers.
Hammerhand adds to the strength of the Attack, not to the armor penetration roll. I would say that it works against the Monolith.

Im not 100% sure. Powerfists yes, but perhaps only S8? As in hammerhand "augments" the user's strength to 5, (then is doubled). I'd say there is a slight case for only S8.

Tank Hunters, AP 1, etc are examples of things effected by that part of the sentence. It says they only use their unaugmented strength plus a d6, so you wouldn't get +1 to the armor penetration, but you can still increase the base strength.

It's still not a "weapon". You're augmenting a models strength (ala furious charge) and that has no bearing on living metal as it only affects "weapons".
Also, Tank hunters doesn't work just FYI. AP 1 still works.

The unaugmented strength of the weapon "hammer" is 2 x users strength
You are altering the users strength, you are NOT modifying the weapons strength. Which is why powerfists et al have *always* worked.

Sorry, someone mentioned using AP 1 as a bonus to the AP roll recently and, even though I dismissed it then, it somehow popped into my head.

Deamonhammers+ Hammerhand is no different than a nob going from S8 to S9 because of FC.

Actually it is, because Hammerhand explicitly tells us to add before multiplying.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I know it's S10, that isn't my point.
My point is the legality of deamonhammers being S10 is no different than the legality of Nob power klaws being S9 when dealing with Living metal. If living metal can cancel hammer hand it can cancel FC. By the same logic if living metal can cancel hammerhand and cancel FC it can cancel a power fist and thus both the deamonhammer and powerklaw are S4. In order for a necron player to prove hammer hand does not work on a monolith the necron player needs to prove that a nob's FC also does not work, and they may as well try to prove power fists don't work either. They can't prove any of it, thus hammer hand, FC, and power fists work to full effect.
Living metal would however work against the USR of tank hunters as the tank hunter USR doesn't add +1S, it instead adds +1 to pen.

Did you read what I said or gloss over it for something that can be quoted out of context?
