For any of you having trouble painting (or figuring out how to paint) your carnivores, look no further!

-note: I don't have any pics just now but I'll post as soon as I figure out my camera :p
-other note: I managed to fully paint twelve carnivores in three hours (applaud) with a standard of quality that is pretty standard for gaming, but if you're looking to win a Golden Demon leave this thread!

1. Spray your assembled Kroot carnivore squad with the Chaos Black primer. It is very important that you do not use white or the model will be hideous.

2. Undercoat your entire model in Scorched Brown, making sure to leave no black/gray whatsoever.

3. Wait until the previous coat is ENTIRELY dry, than drybrush the entire model camo green. (note:make sure your brush is NOT wet before you start, as you'll have to start again if you get in all the cracks)

4.Paint the leather clothing Calthan Brown.

5. Paint the entire Rifle a 50:50 mix of undercoat black and chainmail.

6. Paint the rifle stock scorched brown.

7. Paint the tape/mesh near the end of the rifle either undercoat black or spacewolves grey. (you can do it any colour but I find these work the best).

8. Paint the quills undercoat black.

9. Paint the shoulder pad any colour that matches your Tau force.

10. Paint the little hooks on the clothing/shoulder pad with chainmail.

Note: I didn't include any washes because that's entirely a preference thing, and after having drybrushed is optional.

Well, this should just about finish your kroot. If anyone has any questions please PM me rather than post. If you have comments, post away though!

Will try to get pictures in the next day or two.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Addendum: I switched the scorched brown gun stock to dwarf bronze, and it's looking a lot better

Playing chess doesn't require skill, it just requires you to be good at chess...

Do you have a Macro function on your camera? It's usually a flower/tulip symbol. Most camera's have at least some kind of Macro. It's a function which helps focus those extreme close ups.

Thank the gods for this tutorial I have been surfing the net for over an hour looking for a good tutorial when it was wright here on one of my favourite website! And no I think you can field up to 20 Kroot in a single troops choice! (LOL I sound like some kind of pro gamer which I am most certainly not!)

Kroot are very easy to paint. Painting my kroot horde, I replaced drybrushing with devlan mud wash on every surface. Applying wash also takes less time. My kroot are not, however, that quickly painted because I always spend some time on the details like quills and armor plates (both natural and metallic). But do take a look at my kroot's skin and the leather they wear. They are very simple to do: gretchin green on skin and snakebite leather on leather, then just add loads of wash.
